It seems I've been done. Just bought a car only to find on close inspection that its got a smashed and cracked Ford type 9 box and bellhousing. Anyone got a spare bellhousing for 1.6 or 2.0 Granada Sierra? Also the gearbox alloy mount has been smashed with half of it missing so ideally I need an alloy extention from a type 9 too or a good tig welder in York. . Currently peed off!

Now maybe the time to consider an RX8 6 speed upgrade? Cheaper to buy, even with a new adapter plate... unless you can get it repaired of course

This may do the job -

But as said, RX8 6 speed conversion may be a good option - http://www.turbosport.co.uk/showthread.php?t=50001... - this guy also sells on ebay.

What engine is it running ?

TBH easy option is a secondhand Type 9
£250 to £250 and an easy quick fix

Thanks for the advice but Rx8 no good due to the useless first gear and costs. My box is a fully rebuilt heavy duty one which works fine and space would also not allow Rx8 as wider. I'd need all sorts of expensive extras such as new prop shaft, new speedo , new diff ratios, chassis mods and starter. All I need is a new bracket welding or bolting to the box really or an alloy tail piece. Also need a Sierra or eqiv alloy bellhousing with RH starter.

Still looks like a replacement box is the option and rob the bits you need from it.
