What an amazing coincidence, I spent the weekend in London, on the ride back I stopped for fuel and picked up a copy of Decembers Kit Car magazine, it has my EV on the front plus a red Midas. I was reading as my wife drove who pointed out a car for me to look at, it was the car I was reading about!!! We caught it up and yep same reg! Looked great even in the dark and in the rain on the M1. Well done Sir, we don't see many kit cars on the roads in the winter.

When will you be doing a nice, mid-engine (ok, I know the Midas wasn't) coupe, Stuart?

Something like an updated Libra would be excellent!

rather expensive to develop, I will leave full bodied cars to the big boys.

:'(

Are there any 'big boys' really left in the mainstream kit car market place? I need to get back to a show and see what's on offer.

I still like the sound of an MR2-based RS200 but would prefer something more 'bespoke'.

Remind me; what was the car you did with the bike engine mounted next to the driver?

I think you sold that project on, huh? I quite fancy one of those as a toy!

Sorry I should have been clearer, I was thinking of Ford or Honda when I mentioned big boys.
Atomic was the mad single seater. Bespoke is always an option but can often run into 6 figure sums

Thanks Stuart - Who builds and supplies the Atomic these days?

Sorry, I didn't men 'completely bespoke' as per say Clive's 962, I was really meaning something like a Libra, with a proprietary chassis but some choice around the engine, interior etc.

A nice, updated Honda K20 powered Libra sounds like a great proposition to me. I know we have Elises and alike but I fancy something 'new' that I can enjoy building.

There is something 'new' on its way. Mid engined coupe, road car comfort with interior and air con etc. A second spyder version with no roof and aero screen for more focussed track work. It does all take time and money but should be ready for public summer 2016. It will be a traditional kit car with a single donar vehicle.

The work is purposefully going on behind closed doors - info will be released and as when it is nearing production.

James sounds very interesting.

Off topic, is your G20 the yellow one that was for sale and featured in Kit Car Magazine about 7 years ago? That has me wanting to sell the Fury and buy it on the spot!

Richard Streets who's Midas you spotted ahd just been down to the Bath and West Showground to the Classic and Restoration show which was also being used as a good excuse for the Midas Owner's Club to have a few birthday cakes celebrating the 50th aniversary of the forerunner to the Midas the Mini Marcos and the 30th Aniversary of the Midas Gold and 20th of the Mk4 Midas.

It was a really good show and we had a hall full of Kits thanks to Complete Kit Car along with a seriously tempting auction of Classics in the 5th hall where half the cars seemed to be replicas (read Kit Cars) the one that had me sorely tempted was the Lotus Europa JPS.... I had the Europas as my bedroom wall pin up when I was a nipper.

This Mini was up for sale for a mere £39,000 ono.....

That was Richard Streets on his way back from Shepton Mallet. He has done a really amazing job on restoring that car and finishing it to a very high standard.

Richard's car had been on the Midas Owners Club & Mini-Marcos Owners Club stand at the Footman James Classic Vehicle Restoration Show. Along with the Westfield Sports Car Club, the DNA Owners Club, the Spyders and Speedsters Club and the Apple County Kit Car Club, we had formed a Kit Car hall a new idea for this well established show. Thanks must go to Ian Stent of CKC magazine for organizing the hall. The kit car hall was busy all weekend and the classic cars parking area was overflowing on the Sunday. With the demise of the Exeter show, this will have been the biggest show for kit cars in the South West this year.

Ian's initiative has to be applauded, the kit car hall probably saw more visitors over the weekend than the last two or three Exeter shows put together. Furthermore, it exposed the kit car scene to a wide range of car enthusiasts, many of whom probably would not bother to attend a kit car only show. The show's organizers were very pleased with the range of kit cars on display and seem keen to do it again next year, so hopefully a few more clubs will grasp the nettle and show their cars.

Excellent posting and photos of the show, Qdos. Well done indeed! Full marks to Stuart Mills too, for spotting the superb Midas OTR and writing about the remarkable coincidence! Ain't life with Kit Cars grand!
