Megablade reliability?

This has been done to death!!! Only real answer is you need to spend at leats 30 minutes in the thing to see if you can live with it. Personally, I love them . But some don't.
Agree with that. I had a Megablade for 18 months and quickly grew to hate it but can appreciate why the things I ended up not liking could be awesome for others. No mechanical issues tho.e46m3c said:

As others have said reliability is perhaps not an issue. You have also had the opposing views but perhaps not a definition as to why they are opposite.
If, as you say, this is for track use then the BEC will be spot on. If it is to be a road car then you will come to hate it because they are such a pain to use in traffic.

For me it was the full-on rawness of the car I grew to dislike. Don't get me wrong, I have had most variants of Lotus, I enjoyed my R300 Caterham and my Ultima isn't exactly a sensible car. For the BEC principle to work properly it has to be uncompromising in all the areas where a bit of compromise might be helpful. I went from aeroscreen to windscreen for a month to see if that would make it easier to live with and it did, but it removed a big chunk of the cars character (and speed) so it was hardly a sensible move. I can easily imagine that others would enjoy all the things that hacked me off tho
I had one for about 6 years, no major problems with the Honda bits, just a lot of minor niggles that could affect any kit car. It was 15 years old with about 13000 miles on it when I sold it.
Stuff that went wrong:
Rectifier (twice) - probably my fault for using a cheap pattern part
Battery, replaced with lightweight bike battery
Westfield Reverse Box - likes fresh seals and bearings every 6000 miles
Rear light wiring - the copper dissolved despite only being caught in a light shower once or twice.
Fuel Pressure sender - £50 senders only last 100 miles due to vibration from engine.
Brake light pressure switch
Fan switch
