I'm trying to get hold of a couple of replacement tyres.... simple, surely?

Kumho Ecsta 225/50/15

Can't seem to get them from anywhere locally, i just get blank responses and 'must be the wrong size guv'

Am i making hard work of this, or are they a bit specialist??

Any suggestions guys?

Just checked Kumho's own site - looks like they may be in short supply or no longer available, but if anyone has them Camskill's about the best bet.

Cheers
I've emailed Camskill and await their reply.....

Toyo Proxes seem to be more readily available, but i have Ecsta's on the rear and don't really want a mix.

Ecsta SPT are really good but as far as I can see, Kumho change their range and size availability really frequently! A few times now I have looked for a pair of Kumho tyres for the rear to match the ones I have on the front of the car six to eight months after buying the first pair and that model/size has already been discontinued, so I end up with Ecsta LE or Ecsta HM when I wanted Ecsta SPT. Or a certain type vanish off the market for a year, are replaced by something different at the same price. Then the first one reappears at a considerably higher price point. Still, good rubber for the money and is always high on my list when tyre shopping.

I read an article about the difficulties the tyre manufacturers have complying with thr EU ruling

[GRRR]

I am now at the position in my rebuild to source tyres 185/60-14 road use only in Scotland [haha wee joke their about "changeable weather" in there somewhere].......boy oh boy my choice of AO21's N/A so that leads a road tyre but the selection doesn't give me confidence for a 600kg car...

so does anyone have any suggestions because I'm kinda stuck.....

Yokohama A539 are an uninspiring but surprisingly decent tyre for about £60 a corner. I run my seven on them for road use with a spare set of wheels and sticky tyres for track days. Widely available in 185/60/14

I'd love to know your source for these tyres, AFAIK, they haven't been available in 185/60-14 for a long time - I would have bought some if I'd been able to find them!

Yokos tend to be generally on the softer side, maybe you could try whatever the latest ones are? I'd probably look at Vredestein Sportrac 5s of the road tyres available, but always with the risk they won't work very well.

Too make T1Rs in 195/55-14, if they would work?

I stand corrected. I last bought some about 4 years ago. Still available in 185/50/14...
