Scared by all these 'keyed' threads that are propping up recently I was just wondering if anyone has had their kit keyed?

It's just that my Luego is arriving soon, as I'm getting it painted black, I'm seriously worried about vandalism.

Anyone know if kit cars are a prime target?

I shouldn't worry about it too much - generally kit cars draw plenty of attention from the general public, so there's rarely any opportunity for anyone to get up to anything they shouldn't while unobserved.

i've been driving my westfeild to work for a couple of a days a week recently. i was a bit worried about it at first, with no doors or anything to keep people from fiddling ect. but i havent had any problems yet...

Any time I take the kit car out it gets plenty attention but it has never been damaged.

I don't think that they generate the envy mentality, and thoughts from some people that the driver is a tosser (even though in my case he is) because he/she drives a BMW, Porsche etc.

I have done about 30,000 miles in my kit car and never had a problem. Like most kit cars it would take seconds to break into but no-one has bothered.

Yet.

People tend to show more genuine interest in a kitcar, as opposed to the "flash tosser" reaction often shown to porshes and the like.
One thing that worries me is parking a 7 type car on a slope, having a way of locking the handbrake on would be a good idea.

Well there was a bloke who took his Pilgrim Sumo to the Goodwood Festival Of Speed and someone keyed 'REPLICA' into the side of it. I assume Carroll Shelby had walked past, a bit pissed off, or something.

No excuse for it though.
