Hi all
Not that many of you here really care for news of the Python, but here goes any way!

The New Demo (production standard car) is now a driver in Sri Lanka and had its first run on Saturday. Still some more work on wiring and trim to do.

Floyd had a drive as well and the seat is now positioned better for taller drivers, and as some of you know (that have met Floyd at shows) he is 6'1" tall and had to move the seat forward to depress the clutch fully.

It has been said before the red demo is the prototype and has small changes to the production car, and the over padded seats do not let you sit down to the bottom pad, as they grip you on the side of your hips.

As I found out when I had a long drive after the stoneleigh show.

Oh just for Dave this one has lots of "Bling" on it a 350 Chevy Side pipes, all the Chrome bits and ABS power steering, will be Blue and white stripe paint.

Is that ok with you now Dave? or will you say that’s "ROPEY" as well? as it wont be a DAX ??

Jenn

Ps. some of you who read the wrong mag may be wondering how a "paralyzed" factory is building new demos and parts for its customers. I will let you make up your own minds on that one!

Good news Jenn!

Meanwhile, just to be on the safe side, may I suggest to get this on hand for future use:

Sorry, just a joke. I couldn't let that one slip...

Have you got any pics Vince?

For the average builder what do you estimate the total cost would be, to have it at this 'bling' spec?

350 Chevy! What are you playing at Vince man? Get a proper Cobra V8 in there!

Know many people fit Chevys in the UK for some odd reason, but US market will expect Ford power because that's what the real thing always had.

It wasn't Vince, it was "Fast Jenn" remember.....

And yes, Jenn, we ARE genuinely interested in the car, let's see if you can contribute to this thread without slagging Den or his mag off....

I have recieved an email from Vince.

He tells me the latest spec demo car should cost iro £16k as a self build.
He can supply factory built cars in a similar spec (including American engines) for £19-22k.

There are currently 2 Bmw V8's being built, one manual and one auto. Engines are 2.5l E30 engine and 535i.

He has promised me some pics. I will post 'em when I get 'em.

Would be interesting to see a BMW 4.4 V8 with BMW auto gearbox. Many of the Cobra owners I know moan about the fuel consumption of the Chevy/Ford V8's, some get about 10-12 mpg which means it's pretty expensive to use. I'd guess the BMW V8 should give 25mpg on a gentle run in the sun in a Cobra and still sound good ?

The 2.5 in the E30 BMW is a inline 6 cylinder engine.
So is the 535 in the E34.

The V8 engines used in the 5 / 7 series are the M60 B30 with 3 litres and the M60 B40 with 4 litres.
In 1997 BMW moved to the M62 that is now the current 4.4 litre engine.

Pitsnow, you are right about the V8 engines (as Vince tells me) mark should of said 2, V8's auto & a manual and 8, 6cyl one of which is an E30 2.5 (325i)all the others are 535i.
just to make it clear.

Now you are getting the idea Jenn.
The only problem is that Black is the new Blue, when it comes to Cobras. (Based on a recent survey...........Of my workshop!!)
Good luck and looking forward to piccies.

Seeing the photo's of the chassis and engine bay and knowing that a BMW V8 is about 700mm wide, I would think that it won't fit. Or am I wrong?

When said “There are currently 2 Bmw V8's being built, one manual and one auto. Engines are 2.5l E30 engine and 535i.” I’m a little confused as I know that 2.5l E30 and 535i engines are six in lines. I also know that you can hide away a Chevy V8 in one valve cover of a Beemer V8, that’s why I had my doubts when looking at the pictures. But if you say it fits, I sure believe you. Vince must have used all his designing capacities to get everything under the hood, I know what I’m talking about!
When a BMW V8 fits, almost anything fits as this engine is real big, even a V12.
