I’ve recently inherited my Dad’s Widebody Westfield.
It’s not been driven for a couple of years due to illness.
It’s running a Chamberlain Engineering Royston 72340 engine.
I’m looking to get it out for the summer. I don’t know much about the engine, any suggestions on servicing etc?
(Go easy, the last car I worked on was my Ford Fiesta in 1994!)

Have a look on the Westfield Sports car club forum.

Hugh Chamberlain died in February of this year. His company closed down in 2018.

I’d never heard of him before, but it seems he was a bit of a self-taught genius…

Thanks! I have a feeling my Dad met him some years ago (but I didn’t pay proper attention at the time!)

Hugh was a lovely man, ran a very successful race team, & spent many years running cars at Le Mans etc. Before that he was dominant in Clubmans with Will Hoy driving. Chamberlain engines were considered the best in Clubmans at that time (1980s). I would guess your engine is probably a ford xflow. You could try someone like Connaught Competition engines for service/rebuild. If it’s parts you are after try Burton Power.

Awesome! Thanks, that’s a great help. Yes, I did think it was a Ford XFlow (my Dad had been a Ford Service Manager for 30ish years … that’s what he would have gone for … and he raced Lotus 7’s in the 60’s so I have no doubt that’s how he’d have met Hugh Chamberlain).
Cheers!

Is that a cross flow engine?
