Can anyone confirm what rear wheel bearing is used on a 2002 Mega (Bird in this case)? The current custodians of the Westfield brand only stock/know about more recent VW (I think) bearings but the Facebook crowd seem to think it’s a Volvo 340/440 (or similar) part…

Also, while we’re here - I understand that heat and a press are needed to push the bearing out without damaging the Ali upright - Google hasn’t helped find any how-tos for the bearing replacement - is anyone aware of any out there in the multiverse?

If it’s anything like Sierra hub carriers, strip the hub down and put it in the oven for 30mins @ 200c then use a brass drift to knock the bearing shell out (longer in the oven if it still doesn’t move). To refit put the new shell in the freezer overnight and drift it back in the same way if it doesn’t just drop straight in.

That’s what I did.

Thanks. The vehicle does have sierra rear callipers and a motorsport acquaintance believes the part numbers (TBC at this point) are:

SNR GB12132.S02
QH QWB422
SKF BA2B633295B

OD 68mm
ID 35mm
W 37mm

I notice (not sure if it has been updated since I first contacted them a few weeks ago or whether it’s just the additional context of the calliper type that now helps) that the Westfield parts shop listing for rear wheel bearings (amusingly - and generously - priced if a quick google of QH parts is representative) mentions sierra and vw uprights.

If you've not managed to find the answer yet and have not done so already you might get more responses from https://forum.wscc.co.uk/forum/

Don't know if this post helps, but you might be able to match your uprights to the part numbers of the uprights & bearings shown
https://forum.wscc.co.uk/forum/topic/142925-new-we...

One thing to note is bearings vary vastly in quality, stick with a high quality bearing from the likes of..
NTN-SNR
NSK
SKF
KOYO
TIMKEN
FAG

best of luck..
