countash replicas?
Discussion
is there such a thing as a decent one?
just thinking all the cars i have at the need something doing to them ect (i have a load of junk!) if i sold them all i could buy one decent one, and i always liked the shape of the countash.
but i have heard all sorts of stories about them! and are they very useable?
well acctually i was looking at this one-
www.pistonheads.com/sales/55772.htm
theres no way i'd even cosider building one, i've learnt that lesson!
but what are the problems with using it? obviously rear vision for a start but what else? i used to have a nova which is a similar shape didnt use it much but i seem to think the problem wasnt really with the shape ect, but it was ages ago and i cant remember!

Now that's a more interesting option
Looks good in the 'photo and a good price too, assuming it is just a little TLC it needs and not something major.
If it drives as well as it looks then do you care about rear visibility ? At least the engine will be cheap to maintain. I'd guess that selling it on will be easy too. I'd use that everyday, for a while at least - got to give it a few months to get used to it before you decide it's not suitable.

Probably not to your liking, unless you build it yourself. That's why I've decided to do just that, and, having driven bot the real Countach and a number of Countach replica's, I can tell you that the view is not as bad as many would like you to believe. The rear view can easily be enhanced with a little CMOS pinhole cam in the rear and a tft screen in the car instead of the rear view mirror. I have a friend using the car as a daily driver and I think it can be used as such easily. Building one yourself might be expensive, but mind the maintenance and the insurance costs of the real thing. And building one is still cheaper then a 2nd hand real Countach anyway. Think around 30K pounds when buying a part-build Mirage or so. When you decide to build it completely new, add another 10K.
Hope that gives you an idea!

PS: It's not a CountaSh ;-)
