Here is an odd one that I hope someone can help with.

Anyone know or recall a Fury that has been fitted with the rear deck of the later-style Phoenix (the curved version with frenched in 'elise' lights)?

Saw this conversion on a very tidy Fury back at Stoneleigh in 2003. The car was silver, original low-light bonnet, minilites, windscreen + doors. Red interior I think. The car looked great, with no visible cut & shut lines.

Any details or pics on this car would be well received - Or has anyone done this conversion and what does it entail? I imagine a lot of work is required, but tempted to give it a go..

I also remember this plus I've got some pics - mail me if you want them. The rear end is a one piece moulding so I can't see any reason why a straight swap isn't possible - Fischer sportscars will know.

Thanks for the offer - e-mail on its way.

Yeah I agree with you. Cant see much of a sizing problem, though looking at pictures of the Phoenix the scuttle and sides are a one-piece moulding that includes an entire rear end.

Probably drop onto a Fury Spider OK, but would need to be lopped about to marry up with rear edge of the Standard Fury doors. Either that or cut&shut somewhere ahead of rear arches.

I will work out how to post the pics and people can see what I am gabbing on about

Remember that the Phoenix is based on the Striker tub which is narrower than the Fury. The external dimensions are "probably" the same. Somebody on the Sylva Yahoo Smartgroup will know- or have done it.

There's at least 2 Furix's around, but I think only one of the road at present

At least one of the owners lurks on the Sylva-Chat list

The silver car you are talking about belongs to Tim Mann, and is Toyota 4-age powered. The rear has to be carelully grafted on and its not easy but can be done. I think Tim did it himself but the guy also won Robot-Wars so he's quite clever!! Personally i think its a far nicer rear end than the standard Fury-with-doors as that version does not have the flared rear end. If you want his number I can ask him.

Thanks for the offer Lee - Got to flog a caterham first to free up some funds and it is not the best time of year for buyers.

After that the hunt is on for a scruffy fury on which to do the conversion on. I havent worked out how to upload a picture onto the threads yet so technical ability is not looking too good at this point..

I know of a "scruffy" Fury crossflow, basically needs a bit of fibreglass patching, a respray, new hood, basically a tidy up. But it apparently has a brand new built hot crossflow (I know, I know). He wants £4,750 for it but although he's a mate I think its way too much in todays market.I'd say its worth 4k compared with 6k getting you a good crossflow, 8k gets a very good bike powered one. Maybe worth a look, car is in Kent. Let me know if you want any details.
