I have come to the current conclusion that my Dax Rush will never be a tourer as I can only do just over 100 miles on a full tank of GO GO juice.

Im running a Cosworth turbo engine (standard setup) and it costs me about £25 to £27 to fill the tank up.

What kind of miles per full tank can other performance Sevens do?

Has anyone had a larger fuel tank fabricated?

OK, so not a "performance" se7en, but I can get just 100 miles on mine (three round trips to work) before I am sucking air!

(2.1 Pinto on a 4 speed box).

I can get around 200 miles in my Cossie Rush if i keep off the boost. The Quaife 'box and long diff ratio make a huge difference. I've got the 8 gallon tank but I think the newer ones have got a smaller capacity, that could be where your problem is.

Mine does between 120-140 miles on a tank. Don't let that put you off touring though, I did 3500 miles around Europe this year in my Westie, and only nearly ran out of petrol twice!
(oh, it's got a 2ltr Zetec on Throttle bodies, and around a 25 litre tank)

Well, PWIG from this website and I drove from Manchester, touring Scotland for a few days (including driving from Manchester to John O Groats non stop apart from fuel), and found that in good weather it makes a fine tourer. His particular car didn't have a functioning speedo or fuel guage so we had to work out what 100miles was on the map for fuel stops, by the end however we were looking at more like 150 and i reckon it could probably do over 200miles on a tank, when doing about 80-100 on the motorway it was returning over 30mpg

Cheers,
Rob.

Yeah fuel wasn't a problem, fill up every 120miles with super and had a few octane boosters in the boot if there wasn't any super available.

My V8 Rush (4.6ltr) will do 110 miles cruising per tank, or ~ 60mls if I'm "giving it rice" ! It is possible to have a bigger tank made since the DJ sportcars tank has a lot of clearence round it, and the boot is so useless you might as well reduce its depth to just big enough for the hood and a tool box + spare fan belt : then you'd be able to tour, as long as you didn't want to take any luggage !!

Yep. The last owner of my westy put it in. It's a fiesta rad running off the heating system with an electric fan. Normally the temp maxes out at 80 but it can climb higher than that in traffic so you just flick the switch and it sits at 80. The engine was quite expensive apparently.

My Caterham can do over 200 miles to a tank in fact if it is a long run it will get closer to 300 miles if you run it full to nearly empty.
