I know a lot of people bolt up whatever engine they are using to a Renault UN1*** G'box, plenty of bell adapters available etc, but do people ever use the associated driveshafts/hubs, and if so are there any aftermarket ally uprights available? I've found hundreds (literally) of carriers to take various ford hubs and stubs, but cant find anything Renault based?

Really just thinking it would be a lot easier to use the whole drivetrain from a renault than start adapting driveshafts etc? (also be a lot easier for me to take dims as I have a renault box and driveshaft handy!!!!)

I happen to have a spare set of alloy uprights that take Renault 30 front hubs and bearings. One fitted with bearing and modified hub. Hub and bearing has been removed from other upright, and the bearing requires replacement, and is still partly on the hub. The hubs are Renault 30 fronts, turned down and redrilled to fit in Lancia Beta rear disks (100mm PCD IIRC). I don't know if Renault 25/21/other driveshafts would fit the spline. I also have the Lancia Beta rear calipers, but don't know if they still work.

These uprights/hubs could be used with UN1 gearbox and driveshafts - that's what they were previously used for. I would be prepared to sell them - the replacements I bought cost me £250.

I believe the Renault 25/21 driveshafts were shorter than Renault 30, and not favoured by kit car companies, who switched to adapters and Ford driveshafts into Ford hubs.

Hi Pum, thanks for the response. You mind me asking what they were used in and why you changed them? (and where they come from come to think of it!!)

Many Thanks.

They were the original uprights for my Prova Countach kit (still very unbuilt ). I recently got replacements that are 5 stud pattern, as this is a more authentic looking appearance. The old uprights and hubs were supplied by Prova. The bearings came from a Renault dealer. I believe automotive bearing suppliers can supply bearings to the same spec (42x84x39mm sealed double row ball bearing). The replacements were the same cast alloy uprights and bearings, with custom hubs that fit the Renault 30 driveshafts, but with flanges that fit Granada Mk3 5studd wheel and rear disks.

At some point the new uprights should become available, as I plan to completely redesign the rear suspension after the car is on the road.
