Hayabusa engine
Discussion
About £6k for the additional parts.
You'll also need to prepare the engine with pistons, rods, valve springs, valve retainers, new head studs and main studs, undercut the gearbox, new output shaft etc etc etc etc etc. This lot will cost in the region of £3000 inc a rebuild.
In reality, you're looking at a min. of £10k on top of the engine for a reliable engine. Don't forget that you won't get 550bhp on pump petrol - you'll need to use at least 60% race fuel like C16. Pump petrol will give you about 350bhp max. On a bike this is a lot cheaper but in a car you will still need all the above for 350bhp to be reliable.
If you want to thrash it on track then factor in a bigger radiator, a more efficient charge cooler and a boost controller to give you a lower average boost pressure.
If the engine is in a bike then you can get a nice 280 bhp for about £2500 buying a kit from the States but it's not suitable for a car as there's no charge cooler and the fueling is by rising rate regulator, a crap solution for prolonged periods of boost as you'd see in a car. (On a bike you can't use full boost for more than a few seconds on the road unless you're happy riding at 160mph everywhere)
There are places in the UK who offer a drive/ride in/out service as above but make sure you get a list of exactly what they will do for the money and get a firm quote.

I agree with Busa_Rush, a friend has just turbo'd his Westie Megabusa for a track reliable 300-350bhp (obviouisly on pump fuel) and those costs have almost certainly gone into 5 figures despite the numbers mentioned by Holeshot and despite fitting it all himself.
As has been mentioned, a lot of it depends on how you're going to use it, you could probably get 500bhp with similar money but it may only be any good for 1/4 mile runs and maybe short sprints. To get 500bhp for a track car thats going to do 20+ minute stints on track is a different challenge because it needs to be stronger/last longer and you need to keep it all cool for much longer, and Im not sure its actually that feasible without expecting a rebuild every other trackday to be honest.

From what I remember the engines in Z-Cars Ultima were supplied by Holeshot racing?
Like Sam 68 said they are based in Leeds so I would give them a call if you were looking to go the turbocharged bike engine route.
(Yey for me-First PistonHeads post, hope its a useful one!)
