Just read in a Lotus forum about a new GTM being shown at AutoSport - 3l V6 @ 220bhp, 600kg mass (no idea if that's wet or dry). Here's the thread: http://pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=234356&am
I have to go and see a pregnant lady this weekend, so I can't go!!
Could somebody please takes some pics of it?
Graham B - I'm assuming you'll have a review of the day tomorrow for us to enjoy over the weekend / Monday?

Could this mean a reduction in price of the Libra? Oh pretty pretty please!!!!!
Even if its only down to around, say, £5k for a 1.4 Libra?
There was (might still be) a VERY good Libra for 9.5k in the ads here on PH last month. It was up for sale for a while (3 months I think), so probably open to offers starting at 7k working up (I know that's 40% more than 5k, but it's worth it). It was a 1.8 with the VVC head mods plus loads of other engine mods & suspension etc mods, all done by good people, pushing around 180bhp out!

The price was reduced to £8995 and then sold within about 3 weeks. It needs to be a small engine as it would be my first car, and so easily insurable - also for this reason it has to be as standard as possible.

Hi Dave,
No, we're probably just leaving it at what PetrolTed's already put up, which pretty well covers what was most of interest from the PH point of view.
Mind you, the 100 years of Grand Prix display is pretty good for those old enough to get nostalgic about 'racing in the old days' and there's some live action stuff, although think some of that is just for the public days over the weekend.

Ted mentioned PH may get a go in May - do you know who that'll be yet? No offence intended for the other PH journo's but I prefer your write ups Graham (I've re-written that 3 times and it still sounds sycophantic, sorry!)
I've seen some 100 years of GP photos - it looked impressive, were they all original cars, or copies? I'd have expected some ofthem to be a little too expeinsive to take.
Hi Dave,
As I've dealt with GTM before and only live a few miles from their base it's most likely going to be me that reports on the Ballista.
Regarding the F1 cars, as far as I know they were all originals and many of them certainly looked as though they'd been used rather than being highly polished show pieces.

Not so. Although GTM used the Larini as a starting point for the Ballista and it obviously has the same styling, what's underneath the body has been completely re-engineered.
Errr...the one at the show hasn't been. Maybe the interior looks all bling, but all the dirty stuff underneath was just old dirty stuff. No evidence whatsoever of any re-engineering. I've seen photos on another forum showing the original front and rear suspension.

Hmm. Certainly got the impression at Autosport that a lot of changes had been made under the skin (though didn't go into any detail at the time). Maybe I got the wrong impression but will try and get confirmation.
Do know the car shown at Autosport was an unfinished prototype though so maybe the first 'real' Ballista will appear later.
The new GTM BAllista seems to have roots from a "LARINI"
car that I saw on EBAY. The item was # 4582947009. The auction ended
15-Oct-05. The car was sold by EBAY member "gtmpaul".
The listed location was Christchurch, UK.
Looks similar to me.
I am sure that with the very low weight, high power output, and GTM's
followthrough that it will be a contender.
