I have searched the forums and this has been a well versed topic.

I am considering a purchase with Clam Shell wings which are not really for me.

I am happy to convert and can make the appropriate brackets if required but thought it worthy of the question beforehand.

Does anyone know of a supplier who sells Cycle Wing brackets for mounting onto Cortina uprights.

Has anyone done the conversion as feedback would be useful.

Pro's I guess are better styling IMHO and better top speed stability. Cons I can think of would be the extra sprung weight at the front.

Any further views.

Can't help you with suppliers but www.locostbuilders.co.uk will get you plenty of replies if this forum doesn't prove helpful.

Depends on what you are using the car for, but the main con to fitting cycle wings in my experience is that clamshell wings prevent a lot of road spray being thrown up onto the windscreen in wet weather.

At risk of stating the obvious, remember that you'll have a nice diagonal line of big bolt homes down each flank of the car when you remove the clamshells, too, unless you are intending to replace the side panels.

If going for cycle wings go for ones that turn with the wheels rather than being fixed. An easy mod but not one every car has.

Don't want to appear pedantic, but it would be extra unsprung weight if mounted on the uprights. But I know what you mean.

Well spotted. I was just checking to make sure you were paying attention.

Have to be honest, i have never seen ones that are fixed and do not turn with the wheels.
They must look quite strange!.
