Could you good people give me some tips on kit cars that I could fit in? I'm a long- legged 6'3 ( Christ sounds like a lonely hearts add!)and have a budget of £10-15K. I'm thinking along the lines of a Dax Rush,Brooke, Ginetta G20 and mileage of about 3000/5000 a year.A V8 would be nice but not essential, and it won't be a main car so practicalities are not important. I currnetly have a Noble GTO-3R which may be going as it gets too little use to justify and the balance could fund a 2nd hand luxobarge.
Thanks in advance.

In that case a Westie XTR2

However I'm only 5'11" and could not honestly recommend it to anyone over 6'1" . . . sorry.

I'm 6'4" and drive an MK Indy. Loads more room than a Caterham I drove a while ago. In fact with the fibreglass seats I can make it slightly too long I do have a small steering wheel though to help get my legs under it.

Caterham 7 SV, they have had guys up to 6ft 9in in this chassis! Might be slightly more than £15k (though early ones may be available around this price) but it will depreciate slower than anything else.

SV is slightly longer, wider and taller with a bigger pedal box, boot and fuel tank.

Dino had thought of that, but think they are going to be over budget

I'm 6'4" and can squeeze into a Raw Striker, which amazed me. I want to check out the Fury, VortX and Rush next at Stafford. The Xtreme is a very comfrotable fit, and feels a mite safer too, albeit not as pure or cheap a Se7en as the others of this ilk.

I'm 6'2" and drive a widebody westfield and don't have the seat all the way back and the seat is of the heavily padded variety so a racing type seat would yield even more room. Plenty of v8 westfields kicking about.

Where is your height ie do you have long legs or a long back. There are a few guys who have standard sevens who are your height. Things like Tillet seats mounted directly to the floor and a lowered floor can make enough room for a guy your height to drive a standard chassis car.

I have Tillets seats in my car and although they are just partly carpeted GRP they are amazingly comfortable and I have doen some very long trips in them.

Having your own seat made from 2 part expanding foam and then trimmed isn't that expensive and makes the car completely tailored to your shape.

The lowered floor that Caterham launched a couple of years ago give a fair bit more space in the car for taller guys and could open you up to owning a Superlight which is what I have. Also remember that most Sevens will have their pedals on the middle of three settings and they can be pushed forward a couple of centimetres to give you vital extra knee room.

Remember when you first sit in a Seven that you are probably not used to having your feet that close together (Puma race type trainers help here) and your legs at that angle, but you will adjust TRUST ME. A lot of people worry about the proximity of the knees to steering wheel if they are tall, but wit the steering being direct you are rarely twirling the wheel except when parking. Even correcting a slide usually doesn't require much lock (less than 2 turns lock to lock).

Hi,

I think it depends on if you intend building it yourself or not. The Leugo Viento looks interesting, though i don't know anyone with experience of one. Personally i'm trying to build a Tiger Supercat. So far i've butchered the pedals and go a tiddly steering wheel, and i can fit in it ok with some getting used to the position. Oh yeah, and i'm 6 foot 5 with most of my height in my legs, so it's a bit like a go cary really!

There's loads of options out there nowadays, with people getting taller.

good luck!
