Vauxhall C20LET into a Westfield etc?
Discussion
I know the C20XE goes into the Caterhams, Westfields etc. ok, but am currently in the process of selling my Corsa. As I already have a 300bhp engine, was toying the idea of putting that engine into a kit car type car.
What sort of experiences have any of you had or heard of with fitting a C20LET? What do people tend to do about intercoolers etc? Are there any guides or write ups on the NET anywhere?? I dont really know what to go for, bike engine, turbo, V8 or a 'normal' engine!!
Any help appreciated.
Thanks, Corb.

There's loads of info on www.wscc.co.uk - have a look on there for engine ideas.
V8 is a good option as is a bec as is pretty much anything to be honest

Stick your 300bhp engine into any kit car, it'll be faster than almost anything else on the road.
Intercoolers ? Just keep the pipework short, keep the cooler in the air flow and get driving it ! You won't be on boost for very long as you would be in a Cavalier so the intercooler will be less critical.

It will be tricky to get the same level of power out of it because of the restrictive nature of the engine bay. Siting the intercooler could be tricky and has proved difficult with Vauxhall Turbo cars in the past. FWIW Caterham dealer Freddie Kumschick used to sell 320bhp Caterham Vauxhall Turbo cars but these were fairly extensively modified.
Large capacity (for a kit car) turbo engines in a seven type car usually results in a lot of wheel spin rather than sensational performance. At things like the Brighton speed trials NA cars seem to do better than some of the mega power turbo engined Seven type cars.

For sure, plop a 350bhp engine into a 7 without any kind of control and wheelspin will be on the menu but if you use an intelligent boost contoller like the AMS1000 then you can control what's happenng. With drag racing the launch is all important and if you're just dumping 300+ bhp then it's not going to give you a good time.

I use the same charge cooler (water cooled intercooler). The manufacturer is PWR, I bought it of Ebay USA from a guys webshop. VERY nice piece of kit... Info at www.pwr-performance.com/intercooler.htm
