Hi there,

I'm considering buying a secondhand 356 replica as a weekend toy. Chesil make great cars but they are soooooooo epensive for what they are. Is there a cheaper option?

Thanks and all the best.

Martin.

Pilgrim do one: www.pilgrimcars.com/newmag/speedymain.html

There is one that uses the floorpan of the K-series Metro/Rover 100 if you want a watercooled engine in the wrong end powering the wrong wheels.

That's the one that used to be made by Paul Banham.

Now made by 356 Sports

Have seen one in the flesh.

Horrible thing.

They also made an out of proportion (stretched) effort based on a rear wheel drive Skoda. Nothing wrong with the donor, just the wrong shape to drop on it.

That was supposed to be a 550 spyder..

Speedsterclinic are still producing cars too. If you are one a budget might be best to buy second hand or get an older one for refurb/unfinished project.

I'm sure I've seen a place in Bristol advertising built 356 replicas imported from the States for around £13k - think on www.findit.co.uk
