Title says it all really! Is the Detling KC show any good? is it worth loosing a lie in and a tank full of fuel to go to? not looking at cars (well, except to gawp and ooOOooo over) but more parts, components and info gathering.

Detling is a funny one, if the sun shines its excellent, if it rains its not. They used to do things like have a run-what-ya-brung dragstrip, but i think that has all stopped now. Shame as it's a massive wasted opportuninty. I am going to buy a few bits of trim for the Libra and see a few old faces. Its a shame they do not put more effort in as when the sun shines there is a MASSIVE turn out of kits cars in the car park, its better than the show. There is a huge follwing of kits in the south east and its such a wasted opportunity. Most annoying thing is if you arrive in a non-kit car you have to walk about half a mile to the show, its really not on.

Hi,

Been going the last few years and it's ok, but depends what you're after? My summary is as follows:

Browsing the car park (Sunny day) 9/10
Browsing the car park (Miserable day) 5/10
Autojumble 2/10
Trade stands (accessories) 8/10
Trade stands (vehicles) 8/10

Just my personal opinion though!

I've been going for the past 3 years, and it's fairly good - I normally stay a lot longer than other shows I've been to (furthest was 6 hours drive away, stayed for an hour and a half, and went back again - I'm mad! [it wasn't a car show though]).

I mainly look at new cars and parts, and club stands are quite interesting too.

This year, I'm going because I have to!

Why? Because the enthusiasts club for one of my cars wants it on their stand (it'll be for sale as well), and I've ended up with a stand for the onwers club I set up for my new car (so I've been printing leaflets and posters this week!)

things I'm mostly looking for are ideas, looking for parts to use in my project - I've spent a lot of time looking in catalogues but it just isn't the same as getting a feel for an item. Couple of things I really want to do is have a sit in a few seats and find out if I'm comfortable in any of the fixed back ones (no-one around here has them in stock) and look at guages, trimmings, maybe get a few samples, things like that.

tribbles, what stand will you be on? If I pop up I'll come say hi!

My car will be on the Locust Enthusiasts Club stand; I will be on the Aeon Owners Club stand (although I don't know where either of them will be).

Look forward to it! (I've also got a hankering to design my own car; just want a bit more experience building others first).

I went today and found it quite good. Similar to last year, though lacking a few of the major manafacturers (unless I missed them) but there seemed a good turnout in the display car park.

I saw a couple of PH cars. One was a rather nice, yellow GTM libra and the other a tiger of somesort (green possibly) The owners wern't around when I was though, so didnt get the chance to say hi.

I was in the yellow Libra, but I wasn't outside much as I was too busy buying bits of rubber and stainless steel inside!
It proves the windscreen stickers work, but I didnt seee any others. Sorry I missed you.
What was nice was the RS200 replica in the car park, car of the show for me. And the used but mint P4 Ferrari replica inside, for sale at £26k. And the Stratos..........

Some proper crap there as well. Did you see the yellow F40'ish replica?? I hope nobody has invested money in that project. Rear lights were histerical.

Worst was the Suzuki Jeep based kit that you could just drive into the lake or sea like a boat and back out again for 20k. This was a superb concept, espacially as it looked like it could hold 6 adults and was only 20k. I'd buy one. Unfortunately it was styled by a drunken blind person, dropped from the top of the ugly tree, hit every branch on the way down and then that indian chap on the Peugeot 206 ad had a go at it. Then they painted it sky blue. If only someone had said "no, it's hideous, lets style it properly" before they laid up the GRP. What a missed opportunity.

The RS200 was very impressive. If it wasnt an original it was a brilliant replica. I thought the general standard of cars in the car park was top notch.

Some of the things in the halls were questionable (MR2/F40 thing, snake oil sellers etc) and I would have liked a few of the larger manafacturers to have been there but on the whole it was a good day out.

Hi thanks for your kind remarks about my Replica Mercury RS200.
I really enjoyed the day and everyone was so friendly.
I would post a pic but don't know how to.
Cheers Pete.

Was going to have a chat with you but you went home just as i came over! I viewed a KARA in Horsham or Horley last year, a blue Q plate one, just before i viewed the Libra i eventually bought. He wanted £10k for it but it needed a full nut and bold rebuild in my opinion as it had been well enjoyed over the years. It broke my heart not to buy it as its my ultimate car and i had the money on me, but couldnt face all the work. He was a top bloke though and was very honest about the car. Yours is first class, not jelous much!

Hi I test drove the blue one (Dans) as well before I bought mine and was gutted not to buy it cos i loved the car,but just needed too much work.
I have heard he sold it for about £8.5k in the end the guy sprayed it in the rally colours then the engine blew up!!!!
Glad I never bought it now.
I got mine in August last year and it cost me almost double but is worth every penny I paid.It is a credit to the guy who built it.Second to none.
Sorry I missed you but it was FREEZING and was worried something might drop off lol.
