Sharing a kit build?
Discussion
I have been planning to build a kit car for many years, but budget & time make it difficult; I have an idea of getting 2 or 3 other like minded enthusiasts together to share a build. The plan in my mind would be to start with a simple (L7) type kit, and if all went well to progress to more ambitious projects.
After a few years the group could own a clubman, maybe a GD T70 and/or a GT40, Ultima etc.
Obviously would have to set clear rules etc before starting but I would personally enjoy the build(s) more in a group than by myself, and the shared costs could be spread over a few years.
Anyone had any experience doing this? Comments or suggestions?
Cheers

I am nearing a shared build and it has been fun. I get to spend time with my mate and have learnt alot off him about bodywork and he has had a masterclass in auto electrics.
By pooling our cash we have been able to build a Dax Rush V8 with all the bells and whistles, something neither of us would have been able to do realistically on our own.
It can be a case of compromise I want that steering wheel he wants this one, etc. Should be fine as long as you know your co owners well.

Unfortunately none of my mates are interested in building kit cars,
(although a good friend used to be the State agent for Westfield, and built and raced one, he doesn't want to do it again)
I'm thinking of canvassing through a couple of car clubs I am in to try & find co-builders. I agree it would be even more fun with good friends but who knows, might find a new friend?
Of course, as with most things living in "the most isolated city in the world" means it's that much more difficult...
