Newbie - Fisher Fury
Discussion
Hello all,
I'm based in Southampton and I’m trying to find a kit car - I’ve narrowed down to the final few but would welcome any words of wisdom relevant to the search. The car will need to live outside so I’m not looking for a mint, show-room condition car as I won’t be able to keep it that way. With those constraints, I’m down to the following:
Caterham - budget constraints are starting to kick in - is there any possibility of picking up a motor cycle wing variant at the 8k mark? Live axle vs. De Dion?
Fisher Fury - pretty car and the right sort of price - I've tried the usual sources (Fisher website, this site) - does anybody know the whereabouts of sensible examples
Others - Ginetta 27 – pretty car - can't find any though!
Would welcome any thoughts..
Cheers

I know of a guy selling a fisher fury on here, look at the classifieds. Its a black one and he is from abingdon just south of oxford. Its a very nice example and has lots of trick titanium and carbon fibre bits on it (handy working for williams f1!) Its got a blade engine in it and goes very well indeed. He has done a very good build and id really recommend going to look at it if you can afford it, it wasnt for me as i wanted a westie, but if i did want a fury that would be the one!
What sort of use are you going to put it thru?
Track days and Fury Becs are awesome, Zetec or Similar Fury v. good fast road/track car.
Would worry about leaving it outside all the time, scumbag watch and all that.
If you have def decided that a Fury is for you, then check the following :
Martin Bell @ Kit Car Workshops/Fisher uk - Always knows of used cars for sale, currently has a very pretty Fury full screen/Xflow for sale .
Stuart Taylor Motorsport website - sometimes has used Fury's for sale
Findit.co.uk - kits for sale
Totalkitcar.com -used kit sales
Pistonheads classifieds
Also check the kit mags classified sections - do thgis in w.h.smiths and DO NOT BUY ANY of the magazines.

Hi
Im in Southampton also, have a Stylus (garaged).
I used to own a Westfield that was parked outside. I always had water trouble So used the touno (?you know wot I mean?) cover plus the hood. And in Winter a car cover as well. The car cover was US after a few months.
Anyway the car was fine like that but I had to remove the carpets & fitted Tilton seats as the origonals got wet & wouldnt dry.
So I recommend doing it anyway (cuse you got to), but get a car with a basic interior if its a convertable or preferably an enclosed car.

I bought both my cars as kits direct & spent a few years building them. I mean 2 years for the Westfield and err 6 years & counting on the Stylus. In future I will probably get a ready built/SVAd car to work on & drive due to the time & money saving aspect. I regularly look on Ebay & have seen many reasonable cars almost given away so I will take that route, but need to enjoy the finished Stylus first.
The closest Fury, Stylus, ect meetings are at Liphook
www.s-s-r.org.uk/ but I have never made it. I do not know of any local meetings.
