Anyone on here drive a v8 rush ?, I would like to know what its like to drive , is all that power / torque too much for such a small car/ weight ratio or is it ok ?

I too fancied building a Dax Rush using V8 power because it looks like a large 7 and I thought it would have more room in the cockpit area but this is not so according to those I have spoken to that have more experience than I.If this will not pose a problem for you then I don't think you will have any complaints about the amount of power available from a V8 motor.

What I mean is does a rush v8 take a lot of handling to stay on the road , or is it just about getting used to it ?

Not sure what you mean by ok. I had a 4.6 v8 westfield and it was very powerful and very fast. You could drive it slowly if you like but in the 1st 3 gears you could loose traction at will in the dry.

Does that answer your question?

Well you can never have too much power / torque!
My Rush started live as a 3.5, then went to a tuned 3.9 and now has a tuned 4.6.
Shame I could not afford a 5.2 with some good heads!
The Rush will cope well with the power levels offered by any Rover V8.

It all boils down to what you want to do. If it is a streetcar with the occasional trackday you are hard pressed to find a better option.
The MC brigade will be quicker at a track but it will never be as relaxed on the road.
The V8 will do well on the track and the road. The best things about the V8 are the sound and the torque! There is no such thing as a wrong gear!
But as said by dern, you can break traction if you do something stupid.
The chassis is very good is set-up correct. The cars handling will not be the issue.
On my car, the driver is the limitation.

My advice would be to go for the most powerful V8 you can afford the first time around. This will save on costly upgrades later.

This year at LeMans I made the acquaintance of a very nice fellow by the name of Barry Ashcroft who has an Aluminium SBC in a Westfield with approx. 450bhp and he was very pleased with the results. Apparently it is a bit on the lively side but if you want to optimise all that grunt, something like an Ultima would be a better bet. Barry has a website worth a look. He is on PH under his name.

Another question about the rush v8 , does it crackle and pop on the overrun ?

I think you will find that has more to do with induction/fueling than if it's a V8 or not.
