The replacement for the Hyabusa is rumored to have a straight six engine of 1100cc.

Doubled up, as in the Cyclone et al bike derived V8s, that gives us a 2200cc V12.

Don't expect I'll be able to afford the result but it'll be interesting to see if anyone takes this route.

PS
What was the bike derived V16 (yes - sixteen) at the NEC last year with "Calaway" on the cam covers for? 5200cc and circa 600bhp IIRC !!!

Yeah, but it's as fugly as sin.

It's a replacement for the Hayabusa's role as a tourer (which is really what it was supposed to be) rather than its adopted role as a balls-out machine that was used in every mentally disturbed way possible. evil

I don't think it will become the bike engine of choice for Ving

You don't think A V12 would be popular then? Why not?

It shouldn't be harder to do than a V8 version of a four.

I agree it wouldn't be significantly harder, and it might be popular as fairly much the smallest V12 you can get.

It's just as I understand it the new 6-pot engine does not have the same potential as the older 4-pot.

Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of a small V12.

The V16 was from the Callaway firm, you just spelled wrong.

that engine is bassed around 4 yamaha R1 cylinderblocks and heads thus givving a total of 16 X 5 = 80vavles......

just imagine that being put on the rear end of you car " 4L V16 80V "

it does 550hp @ 10Krpm

I love the idea of small V8`/12/16`s...but I`m always dissapointed when I hear them...
They seem to lose some of the sweet tone somehow...

I know what you mean.

As I understand it the engine in the SR8 is technically not a V8. I'm not sure of the exact configuration but I believe it really operates more like a pair of 4-pots.
