Westfield XTR2, broken drive chain
Discussion
Drive chain broke on my XTR2 the other day. Rather than transporting it somewhere on a trailer to be fixed, I was wondering if anyone with the right expertise would be up for fixing it. I can supply the chain and do the necessary adjustments, but I believe the chain goes on 'broken' and then a specialist tool is needed to rejoin the chain. Getting someone in to fix this will be an easier option for me due to saving on transportation, so I'm willing to pay reasonably well for what is probably a couple of hours work to someone, say £200 plus travel expenses. If you know anyone who may be able to do this, then please let them know of this post.

From now on a length of chain and the tool should be in your tool kit.
As with most things bike chain comes in a range of quality. Invest in the best as it is working harder than it ever would have done on a bike. It will also stretch in use so a known measurement over 10 or 20 links can be monitored to try and predict when it needs replacing.

Chain brand wise, if you are using m/c chain, then I would say D.I.D (v.expensive) or RK are the top 2 brands in the uk.
Some of the others are ok ,but in your app., ok isnt really good enough.
A good chain tool can be seen here :

The motion Pro is available in the uk from decent race shops.Again, try to avoid the cheap and nasty types.
