SPD200 (rs200 rep)
Discussion
What are your views on this kit? I have been offered a part built kit, all the sub frame is complete and the running gear and engine has been fitted but removed as it’s not included in the sale. It’s been made to take full 4x4 cossy running gear and engine.
Its still needs lots of work, there is no interior but the chap has all the parts to finish the kit apart from the engine and running gear. My question is what’s this kit like, I know its front engined but that does make things easier, is the body work an accurate replica?
The chap is after £2500 for everything and he’s open to offers. I have a 3door cossy now which I would have to sell to fund this project and want to know if you peeps thing it’s worth while..
Cheers
John

Hi there,
It depends what you are after. The best kit i ever saw was from rs automotive in leicester, but it would seem they have goe down the pan unfortunately unless anyone knows differently.
I saw the demonstrator SPD200 at donnington a few years back, unfortunately the finished article looked pretty poor in the fit and finish department, which is why it probably went belly up i guess...?

Bloke selling RS200 Replica said:
The original registration is going back on the car giving it a more authentic 1986 C reg reading C106 GRH, the current logbook is showing 6 former keepers and has the vehicle listed as a Sierra Emax GL,
Hmmmm...... it's had a chassis change and it's still registered as a Sierra???
Original registration going back on??
It's like SVA never happened!!!!
Run away!!!!

Original RS200's were hardly great in the body department. Crappily fabricated panels by Reliant designed to be light and easy to replace.
I see the chassis issue, doesn't look like the rear with nave much torsional stiffness.
Worst bit is the engine is in completely the wrong place.

engines in the wrong place ;-)
thinking of swapping my v6 gtm for a rs replica but needs to be mid engined - not too fussed about 4x4 - but needs to look the part
as above the one in teh classifieds looks the part but surely needs SVA'd as its not been propoerly logged with DVLA? any ideas?

If you wanted 4wd you'd have trouble due to I believe that the only available mid engined inline Gearbox that would support this is a racing box made by haldex (similar used in the original cars), unless you could get one from a Murcielago, either way serious £££££'s.
Someone please correct me if I am wrong
