How do I select the right springs for my car ?
Discussion
Sorry if this has been asked many times before, but I am asking anyway.
I suspect the springs on my Striker are too firm, I don't know what they are as they came with the car.
Anyway assuming a weight of 600lbs front and 700lbs rear with the driver in place, is there a calculation or rule of thumb regarding what springs to fit ?
Thanks

I think its possible to work out a theoretical value, you'll have to measure various distances and angles in the suspension to do it though. I was going to have a stab with my Striker, but haven't got round to it yet.
I'm not sure how useful the value it spits out will be anyway, your best bet is probably just to ask some other people that are happy with their setup what they use. My car has 185lbs springs all round at the moment, which is what RAW recommended to me for mainly road use. They suggest going stiffer on the front for track though.
People on the Sylva Chat list are bound to know (or have opinions anyway

).It depends on many things and not just the weight and weight distribution. When choosing springs for my Fisher Fury, I had to provide a whole load of different figures and measurements to Guy at Nitron, to get the right damper lengths and spring rates.
I think the biggest factor was intended use. If you want to use it on the road, then you need some springs way softer than those used on race cars.
