200 ft lb torque for 70 lb weight + lithium ion cells that probably wont weigh any more than a tank of fuel.
How easy would it be to build a Westy with this setup - 0-60 achievable in under 4 secs with 300 mile range - sounds ok to me - need convincing about the e/m field though from 200,000 watts of power within a couple of feet of drivers head being safe enough though.
Make an interesting motorbike......

So having 200,000 Watts of power next to your testies is ok, but not you feet?

Coming down in price at a rate you wouldn't believe though - cells that 3 years ago cost me £50+ ecah now can be had for £12!!!
Really? Damn! I spent 300 quid on a single Li battery last year. Admittedly it's amazing (smaller than a house brick but more voltage, energy capacity and a better duty cycle than a car battery) and wasn't meant for the car, but I bet I could get that for a lot less now. The box in the box in the box it was shipped in was good though - I had loads of little gold mica foam beads incase the thing cracked in transit, and each box was sealed with lots of yellow 'dnager' tape (explosive and the like)

great fun!A friend of mine is involved in their manufacture, he reckons they will become virtually disposable soon. I mostly buy poly rather than ion as my app's are very weight critical, they tend to be even pricier - I'm after a replacement for my old electric rc heli at the moment but am hesitating as it's going to set me back about £1000 for enough cells to make it worth while!!
Safety is one of the big downsides to these cells, run a lead acid flat as a pancake and it becomes an oversized doorstop. Drop a lithium cell below the manufacturers minimum and it can potentially turn into a bomb! so safety measures, voltage detection cut offs etc etc are critical, as is cell balance when you have multi cell set ups.
