DAKAR 4x4-body Conversions
Discussion
I like the idea of a 4x4 body conversion kit, especially if it's based on a cheap used Suzuki Vitara or your old Landie.
With plenty of used examples around, it makes sense...
What do you guys think?.

You learn something new etc etc...
I googled 'Challenge Anneka' and discovered that her car WAS a Dakar, whereas I had always thought it was a Rotrax....

Which is sadly no more - it was burnt by some activists or something and then dissapeared from the salvage yard before it could be rebuilt.
The rotrax was the original shape, Barry Chantler liked the shape but hated the base car which was a cortina - so he enlarged it and made it fit a Range Rover. All sales are now handled by a guy called steve - www.dakar4x4.me.uk/ - and the club website is www.dakar4x4.co.uk/index1.htm
There was never a suzuki sj based conversion - Steve would buy up old Rotrax's and put the body onto a Suzuki.

I like it, but gas mileage must be worrisome with twin turbos..!, I's prefer a lowly turbodiesel

well beeing a range rover, your engine options are plenty. It's my second car, so I dont really care about consumption. (well I do, but there's not much i can do about it - so i live with it.)
