I ma just interested to hear what people think of them.

www.cav.co.za

they seem expensive but well made, however in their own words " not really a kit car", however I felt that this was the most appropriate forum to post.

very nice cars indeed, there's also some interesting stuff in the states...they use a special aluminium chassis... that could be lighter then the stainless steel?

Try www.gt40s.com for more information. RCR have a fine reputation but (and this may or may not matter) are US. In the UK there are also companies; Tornado and MDA off the top of my head.

Don't know, but if their customer service is anything like the muppets at the last show, it'd be enough of a task finding out the answer to that question, let alone anything more techinical.

Davi, what show would that be ???

I own RCR ( the company) and flew in from the USA to attend so please enlighten me to your reasoning....
Did my guys offend you in some way?
No Yank jokes as I am an Englishman too....

The GT40S.COM forum is a much better focus group to study for any info on GT40 replicas..

A TK minus RCR40 is 60k usd....by the way...

Hi Fran, when I posted that I was trying to remember which show it was!

Did they offend... yes, they did really.

Before I decided to design my own car, I was seriously looking into GT40 reps. After showing an obvious interest in the car for quite some time they were far more interested in carrying on their personal conversation and trying to ignore me. I wanted to have a proper look around the car, but I couldn't get more than a grunt out of the people on the stand, let alone information on it. There was very much that "look down the nose" factor going on which eventually made my wife say sod em and drag me away!

Maybe I need to thicken my skin a bit, doesn't seem the best way to promote a company though!

I klooked into the CAV and it seems a very well put togther piece of kit, however at 70 -80k its quite steep. I am not a kit builder and wanted something that was well made, with a good spec and already built, there dont seem to be too many about.

Davi,
do you remember which show it was??

most shows we are swamped with people asking questions and admiring the aluminum monocoque chassis and billet componentry, some seem valid and some less so.....I just did the Autorama show this weekend in Detroit with 150,000 attendance for each of the three days....its exhausting.

You may just have caught the guys at a bad time .....

As for the for sale section....yes there is one but very few cars come up for sale...www.gt40s.com/forum/gt40-cars-sale/

Obi,
I have client here in the States that builds TK cars and he is finishing an RCR40, RHD Mk1 with 289, Webers and a ZF transaxle, Leather , AC....you can even name your own colour....drop me an email through the website if you are interested ....complete its 80k usd....so approx 42k pounds

In all honestly, no I really cant! I'm not known for having the best of memories and after a half dozen shows they all tend to blend a bit. The stand wasn't busy at all at the time or I'd have understood, I know how hectic these things can get.

Nay mind, at least you are here and willing to discuss things! Good luck with it, its certainly a stunning car. Are you doing any shows in the UK this year?

Stoneleigh and Detling....there will be an RCR40 as delivered in rolling state and a naked RCR70 rolling chassis....I prefer to show customers what they get as opposed to how nice of a paintjob we can afford to pay for.

It gives a much more real appreciation of whats on offer.
