I hope brain trust member can help me.

I'm looking for a person or company that can repair, or produce from a pattern a plastic orange lens.

I've given up waiting on another to come up on eBay so have decided to go down this route.

Nothing else fits by the way and I'm a perfectionist.

Lens as fitted to the side of each headlamp bezel on this:

Ooh, lovely Quattro!

www.protocast.co.uk

Not sure if they can help, nor why I had their website bookmarked, but must be worth a phonecall, no?

I got some lenses from protocast for my phantom and can vouch for the quality, he normally does clear ones to replace the orange ones..

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the contact.

the orange lens I require is just an orange reflector rather than a lamp lens but no doubt they know what is what.

Will contact them if I have no joy from my Quattro dealer mailshot.

Thanks again.

Richard,

Just looked over your site.

Nice work. Never knew the Phantom existed. MR2 based?

Those headlamp plexiglass lens', your own or aftermarket?

I hate it when people say that about the MR2! It's actually based around the Honda V6 from the Rover 827, pretty much all the rest is bespoke to the car..

The headlamp lenses are from phantom, it isn't hard to make up a mould and get some made from it.

Sorry Rich

Just that from the rear, down a dark alleyway wearing sunglasses it looks like a late model Toyota.

Re the making of flexiglass headlamp lens'. I always imagined that's for a real specialist company. Like you don't make an F40's rear engine cover in the oven as gas mark 6:-)

Either of you guys down at Goodwood this Sunday morning?

I understand where the MR2 thing comes from, but when you see them both, even on the same day, they aren't comparable, phantom is massive in the flesh!

For headlamp leses it is a case of using the correct company. Phantom now use a place that vacuum forms them, others use a more manual technique. You also have to be careful with material selection and pre-treatment as moisture can cause internal bubbling, slow pre-baking releases it slowly.

This weekend I'll be changing the phanbom's engine, so won't be at Goodwood, will be at Stoneleigh both days, probably with the car for sale, bored now it's finished!
