Hi.

I have a 1600cc stg 3 pinto head. Its a leaded head. I have a set of dhla 'twin forty' dellorto's which need a full rebuild. I've been qouted £300 plus vat for the carb servicing. I was wondering if the injection manifold / plenum can be mounted on to my 1600cc pinto head.

In other words can i run injection on my stg 3 head?

thanks

The car is a 1995 robin hood kit car. The electrics went many moons ago and the car needs a complete re-wire and re-build. The block is shot (1600cc) and the four speed gearbox is poor / jumping out of gear. Im hoping to buy a 2000cc sierra / granada and lift the electrics , 5 speed gearbox / engine and implant them in my cortina based seven. I would hope to buy an injection pinto as it makes my life easier / cheaper. I think, with uprated carbs you have to fit an expensive distributor. My dhla inlet manifold is damaged as well. So thats about £200 for the dizzy / inlet manifold, or the price of a donor car..

Basically i was hoping to lift everything from the donor car and implant them in the seven. Was wondering if my carb based stg 3 head, could be run on injection

thanks

It can, a mate of mine is currently doing just that bike TBs of some sort and Megasquirt, i will find out more but i'm sure someone else will be along in a minute to tell you what you need, you're still looking at 5-600 quid though.

Thanks. Im looking at fitting this type of injection manifold

Just wondering if that injection manifold would mate with with my cylinder head. Would the ports hook up etc

edit: That plenum would not fit under the bonnet anyway. Carbs it is

thanks again

You might want to consider bike carbs... some of the guys on locostbuilders have had good results, and I think it works out cheaper than webers etc. Bogg brothers do manifolds and (I think) now sell packages complete with carbs.

the injection pinto has cut outs in the ports for the injectors, so you'd need to grind out the ports on your head,
