I saw a post here a while back in which there was a link to the section in the MOT test requirement regarding emisions testing of Q plate cars. I recall that they are subject top a test as if they were first used 1971/75 or similar and so do notrequire a cat.

Can anyone direct me to the relevant section, or find the original post - I searched but didn't find it.

Testers Manual said:

A vehicle's 'first used' date is;
a. Its date of manufacture, if the vehicle was originally used . without being registered in GB [e.g., an imported vehicle or ex-HM Forces vehicle), or
b. Vehicles having a Q plate registration when presented for MOT are to be treated as follows: For emission purposes only, all these types are to be considered as vehicles first used before 1st August 1975. For all other testing purposes they are to be considered as being first used on 1 st January 1971,or
c. In any other case, the earlier of either
. Its date of first registration, or
.The date six months after it was manufactured.

My kit goes for its first MOT after a six year rebuild next week. I will post back on what tests are actually performed on mine. Its going to be a bit rough after all that idle time. My last one, two years ago was put onto a gas analyser. I laughed when the tester reported back lower emmissions that the 4 yesr old mondeo he had just finished testing.
