Hi folks - can anyone tell me whether a Zetec fitted with '45 Weber DCOEs is signifcantly wider than a Pinto with a silar setup? Would such a swap mean that you'd end up with sideways clearance problems with the Trumpets, especially if it was a bit tight before anyhow!?

Thanks,
Pete.

Not exactly what you are asking...but I swapped out a Xflow with DCOEs for a Zetec (with TBs that had the same dimensions as DHLAs) and it's no wider. This does depend a lot on your inlet manifolds of course. The one on the Xflow was medium sort of size and I used a short Raceline one on the Zetec. Zetec head is really pretty compact.

If it's any help, I could measure from engine centreline to filter backplate for you.

Many thanks for the offer - yes, it would be great if you get a moment to know what the didtance from the head center line to the edge of the carbs/filters.
Cheers,
Pete.

There are several possible answers but it depends on your setup. I swapped from a Pinto to a Zetec. The Zetec head is wider, although obviously the inlets are on the other side.
You may use a shorter manifold though which could offset the difference.

Measured up - just under 10" from head center line to filter backplate. Add on whatever you need for trumpets & filter(s). The Raceline inlet manifold I used is the shortest available for the Zetec AFAIK. Depends on which way you go, but there are loads of options for induction.

Thanks guys for the help and advice and measurements ! - I think it looks like there should be plenty of room after all, with the correct manifold.

On the matter of swapping from the Pinto to Zetec, I think that I've read that one of the Zetec engine mounts is in a completely different place; is the other still about right, or do you usually end up redoing both?

Cheers
Pete.

I remade both as one is in a different place but both have different bolt holes in the mounting flange.
