This is the post I never wanted to have to make...

After about 3 years in storage I am unfortunately going to have to get rid of my part built Fisher Fury, as I am not now going to have access to a garage to build it in for the foreseeable future. I now need to send it to a good home as soon as possible.

It is at a rolling chassis stage, ie all panels have been riveted on and suspension fitted. It's a live axle car, with Le Mans bodywork. The plan was to put an R1 engine in, so I have engine mounts, but no engine.

In the time since I bought it (early 2003) Fisher Sportscars have changed hands a couple of times, and my problem is basically this: How the hell do I go about selling it?

- I have no idea what it's worth
- Where is the best place to advertise
- Are the new owners of the business able to help with this kind of problem?

Anybody able to help me at this traumatic time??

William

Advertise it in a kit magazine - there's normally a few part-built cars in there, so you won't be alone.#

How much it's worth? I have no idea, I'm afraid.

You could advertise in the Owners club website, or in "Find It" website in the kitcar section, I'm sure you will be able to sell it.

Stick it in the For Sale section on Locostbuilders, lots of project/unfinished cars have been sold on there.

PH classifieds! Seen a couple (part built) on there.

My dad is currently 7 years into building his stylus. He better hurry up, I feel like pinching it off him at regular intervals when he's done!

Thanks for the suggestions - I'll look into a couple of those locations. Thanks to this thread I've at least found a buyer for the bodywork, which is a start!

Does anybody know if the new owners are continuing to make kits at the same rate, ie when I sell someone the rolling chassis, will they be able to buy any further bits needed to finish the project?

They will indeed. They're working flat out at the moment to serve customers who are in the midst of Fury builds.

Put an ad on here and post links to it on the Sylva chat list on google groups and also the Bec list on Yahoo.

Sold mine off here surprisingly quickly.+

Can also do a buy it now type ad on fleabay, I had something like 2500 views for about a £10. Gets it seen.

Just a thought, but if your kit is complete, splitting it up could make it even harder to sell.

Well, it's gone now, sold in two lumps to a couple of PHers :-(

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/197622.htm

Interestingly I've managed to realise just over half what I paid for the kit by selling it now, whilst that hurts a bit, there probably aren't that many new cars that keep that kind of value over 3 years!

Anyway, I'm down to the last couple of bits, what am I bid for a set of R1 engine mounts for a Fury?
