Hi Everyone,

The pilot programme for a proposed UK television series 'UK KIT CAR' is now available to view on YouTube in 5 short parts. Watch Stingray motorsport's Matt Perrins faces off against Cloudbass Multimedia's Steve Knee in a Kit Car Build and track race!

www.youtube.com/cloudbassmultimedia

Comments from kit car owners and enthusiasts especially welcome.

Thanks,

Guy Burdge

p.s - watch out for those lazy students!

I would think that by definition that a pilot is a one off.

I'm pretty sure pilot is a term used for the first of any intended series to test the water as it were.

Anyway, from the first 5 mins i think its pretty evident who you probably are. I really liked the concept. I liked eddie jordans bad boy racers. To be honest i was a little disappointed the students took much the same approach and didn't 'get' the car. I started building my tiger when i was at uni and would have loved facilities like that to have made the build easier.

As for the programme, i didnt like the presenters at all. The guy reminded me of a more annoying Tiff. Its the way they moved their heads when they talked and rocked when they spoke. The internation and blinking was annoying too. the production smacks of another cheap motoring programme where top gear is obviously the model its based on.
The interview was a good touch but the guy wasn't enthusiastic or worked particularly well so its was a laborious watch. You came across really well and by the end i felt more involved.

On the whole I liked the idea an a lot of the elements. The presenting was a huge negative for me though. A suggestion could be using the OC chopper shop as a model to base the workshop scenes on rather than a formal interview/ top gear idea. I would scrap the presenters and i think you should have an editorial and use the bloke presenter as a voice over when needed. Also revise the music, the music makes it sound like a promotional film. Its a great concept. I would just like to see a little more pace to it if you know what i mean? the talking was too long and the work scenes want more action. I think it washes more as motoring programme, it just could be better IMO.

I hope i haven't been too harsh or come of as rude. have you thought about having this thread moved to the kit car section? also give the locost builders forum a go if you haven't already.

best of luck with the programme

Not many pilots only last 10 minutes though, which is the maximum length of a YouTube vid wink

Pilots aren't a one off, they're a test.. a first episode to see if the programme is viable.

I'd love to see a devoted kit-car show on TV, and you're right, that presenter really does remind you of Tiff, but if it was made, after a bit they'd get the presenters sorted out, just like they did on TopGear, fingers crossed

Guy,

Great to see a new programme of this type, although watching/listening to those students is pretty frustrating!!

As that was filmed at the end of last year and the timescale mentioned was pretty short for building those cars, why haven't we seen them out in RGB so far this year? Would be good to have a couple more class A cars out with us.

Good!

I enjoyed it but got pretty annoyed by the students, miserable buggers.

Odd camera work and music sometimes but meh.

I want to see what happens...

Definitely some potential there, I'd scrap the presenters unless they were on site, voiceover bits were much better.

Can I ask why this is called UK Kit Car? It is just about one kit being built by some students. From the name I was expecting to see lots of kit car manufacturers showing off their cars, not some students building one car only. This just appears to be a marketing video for Sylva. I must admit I stopped watching by the 3rd one as I got a bit bored.

Just my thoughts.

Can't view Utube in work but I like the idea, if you ever need another bunch of keen students to build a kitcar for the next pilot then get intouch as I work closely with a local University which has a pioneering Motoring degree who I am sure would love to take part in building a kitcar.

Although the concept seems good, I found the content a little bland and it didn't really give any real information. As a rough overview I suppose it was ok but I must say that I found the male presenter's 'nodding dog' style very irritating.

Echo the above - Music is the wrong type for a TV show; it's more corp' presentation and put me in mind of bad Halth & Safety / school sex-ed videos or pyramid schemes being sold in the local lvillage hall.

The presenters also were a bit rough. She os ok but I think she needs to have a more interactive environment to work in. His manorisms are a bit odd - kind of like that annoying uncle you only ever see him at weddings because he thinks he knows a lot more than you but is trying not to show it while wanting you to say how clever he is.

I'd have been happy to seriously harm the students too! They have no idea what kind of opportunity that was and I wouldn't give any of them a job in the industry from those videos!

Though I may change my mind after watching the rest of them (I don't want to take the piss at work!)

There used to be one, on Men and Motors, and it was hosted by a certain Richard Hammond... i wonder why they stopped making it?
