i plan to build a westfield fireblade in a couple of months, and still contemplating
which engine il be using.i know that if i use a pre 1995 it wont need a cat
for the sva,but im thinking, why build a brand new car and use an engine that
will be 12 to 15 years old just to pass the sva.so im thinking much later
engine say rr1-2-3or4 which will also have more horsepower,ok it will need a
cat for sva, but i know you can hire them, then go for a q reg which would only
need visible smoke checks on the mot.ok the mot will be once a year then on the
q plate but think it gives you a bit more flexability. can anybody give me their thoughts on that please

I had an 893cc, fast as hell and never blew it up in 6,000 hard miles. Newer may be better but do not rule one of these out as no Cat if pre Aug '95. 919 had an extra 5 horsepower or so, and gearbox works opposit way.

thanks for that, they do say the fireblade is pretty bulletprof just thinking would give me a bit more range shade more ccs which is normally better in anything,im not realy worried about the q reg stigma cant see me selling it as theres not much around thats faster car engined wise that will give you the same buzz.its nice to have opinions from other people.

yes it does sound the easy way to go fairly cheap engines to pick up no bother with cats and can go for new reg,and tune it if i want.ok thats sorted pre 95 it is then many thanks for your time.
