Gents,

......should I get one?

Car I'm looking at is a mk3 (fully adjustable/independant) with a fairly stock pinto going for a little over £2k.

Can anyone describe what they're like to drive? Vindicator go on about having all the mass concentrated within the wheelbase, creating a low polar moment - does that make them twitchy on the limit?

(Other possibilities are a Sylva Leader, early Westfield or [wildcard] GTM Rossa K3)

Cheers,

Chris.

edit: Ouch! Asked the same question on the locost buildrs board and it got a flaming! Anyone on here able to expand upon that?

Its a shame there is no track day at Donny this year or you could feel the handling for yourself, albeit with someone else driving.

Failing that get in touch with John Butler and go for a test drive or better still get along to one of the Vindi Track days he may let you take one round the track they use.

Hi Andy - I have been speaking to John Butler, it was you who put me in touch with him smile

I've seen one for sale which I'm seriously considering getting and I put a post up on the locost builders forum (they seem to be fairly knowledgable on all things kit car) and I was expecting a "they're good for the money" type response, but it got an absolute flaming. Wasn't sure if this was due to many of them having much more exotic machinery well out of my budget to compare it to though!

Well, I do wonder about that yes. Plus the fact it's 'not quite a 7' will probably get to some people. That said, I've heard nothing but universal praise for the Sylva Leader which is both uglier and even less conventional.

Have you driven one on track Andy?

Don't worry, I'm taking some of the more extreme criticisms of them with a pinch of salt smile Just conscious I won't be able to drive someone elses car (with at best 3rd party insurance) in quite the same way on a test drive as I would if it was my own, so trying to get a good idea.

not driven one on a track but John took me round Donny in his daily driver and whilst I dont think he was right on the edge it certainly stuck well and went quickly enough for me at the time and was only a 1.8 zetec

Drove the family on a trading estate and whilst it would step out if provoked was very well mannered when driven within my limits let alone the cars. Not having driven on track or been too much of a loon I think I would reach the limits of my bottle before I reached the cars.
