Side Repeater - SVA Requirement
Discussion
all the lights and mirrors have to be E marked. Someone did say that if the lamp was a direct copy of a commercial item it does not have to be E marked. SVA inspectors are a fickle lot so it's sometimes best to keep to the rules otherwise it'll be retest time!
Car Builder Solutions have a range of E marked repeaters which is where I got mine.

Do not have to be "E" marked, just have to perform as good as an "E" marked light. (Read into that what you like). I never use "E" marked tail lights or side repeaters on my Cobra builds.
As said above, The SVA inspectors can be a fickle bunch, Fortunately I usually deal with one who is up to speed with the rules.

They will perform a visual check on non e marked items which will basically involve them looking at the lamp in question in operation and then make a judgement as to whether they feel it is equivalent to an e marked variant.
We have had non marked lights pass without problem, albeit after having parked a production saloon alongside the car being tested to do an 'in action' comparison test!
Much will depend on the individual tester and the relationship which you manage to build with them during the testing procedure.
All part of the SVA fun!
Neil.
