Odometer reset with road registering?
Discussion
Had a thought in the shower this morning (I like to add human touches of detail nobody wants
)...
When you build a kit and it's (nearly) all new can you reset the odometer to say the whole car has covered zero miles? Or will the SVA boys not like that? Or don't they give two hoots?
Just thought it would be nice to reset the clock for the whole new car it lives in, and then we have a marker for how many miles the car has really done, and once it's back home we can say it has 'delivery miles'

Yes you can reset the milage. It is not compulsery to record the milage covered on any vehicle.
It is fraud though if you state a false milage or deceive by altering the shown milage and not declaring the difference to a new buyer, or the insurance co. if on restricted milage.
I have had to replace a faulty speedo on a car with a new unit showing 0 miles. But with proof of the recorded milage on the old unit there is no deception.
I have also build a couple of kit cars with 2nd hand engines & other running parts, and started with 0 miles, this is OK.
