Chaps,

I wonder if you could recommend me a glue? My rear view mirror has come unstuck from my windscreen and I would like to re-stick it! Thanks

I was very impressed with the Loctite kit that Halfords sell, comes with a little bit of mesh that I presume gives a thicker bond line and therefore more compliance.

I used that stuff with the mesh too.

Its an adhesive with a piece of mesh gause impregnated with the activator. Cut the mesh to the size of the mirror base, then cover with the adhesive and stick.

It didnt take long to set and while I think it needed 24 hours or so to cure, it was solid (stronger than the original porsche glue imo) and didnt fall off again.

Go into a Ford dealer (parts) mirror pads are about 50p. Don't get the Halfords pads as they are expensive and too thick and make the mirror wobble! It's the Sun (no not the newspaper)that weakens the glue so paint or cover the outside of the screen with a black square over the mirror pad.

In that case I doubt that you need worry about a mirror biggrin

I agree with Graham.
'Cos the Fiat screen in the Libra has no black area to glue to I tried every conceivable method and all weren't really satisfactory until I stuck a square of black vinyl from our local signwriters on the outside of the screen. Stuck mirror on with glass-bond... been there for two years.

Is it a ford mirror (attaches directly to screen) or one that has 'boss', or bracket (mirror assy will slide on to this)??

I didn't black out the area on my Libra and the Loctite kit worked great...

I'd agree with Andy,

Sikaflex appears to stick just about anything - permanently !

Its beautifull isnt it.
- I know someone who used it as a hinge for a number of years.
- Bonded two sheets of 6mm ply end on end with a fillet of it.
