I own a Fisher Fury and at present it has a 1700 crossflow engine
I would like to fit a Ford 2 ltr Zetec engine but im really confused about the emission rules
Im told that any pre August 1995 motor from a Mondeo would be okay, but after
scanning Ebay plus the small ads i notice that Mondeo's did come fitted with a Catalytic Converter even before 1995
Can anyone please tell me what is the best 2 ltr Zetec to fit and what year Mondeo i should look for to avoide any Catalytic Converter emission rules

hi i wouldnt worry about emission rules fit whatever engine you can get or a newer one etc

it only has to be done at SVA then MOT three years later then yearly not worth worrying about imho just fit a good CAT when the time comes

As far as I am aware, your car will only have to go through the emissions test that it does at the moment, no matter what engine you put in it.

We have a Westfield that I built back in '91 with a 1690 Xflow. I put a 2l Zetec in it last year and come MOT time, it still gets tested as 'visible smoke' on emissions. Q plate helps.

Also, recently(ish) built and SVAed a car. It was built & tested with an old Lancia TC motor. It now has an Afla V6 in it but the MOT test is still as per the V5, which is the standard applied to the old TC, not the newer Alfa motor.

...so don't fret, just fit the Zetec, send off the V5 with the new capacity & engine # and job done.
