I am looking for a kit-car for road and track use.The gt-r will probably have a full windscreen option later 2008 so this is another option for me.
I have already got a civc type-r engine complete with gearbox and everything. Both of the cars don't come with the type-r option from factory so i'll have to fab it myself. The gt-r needs a gearbox from a audi 80 or 100, Renault UN1 and 19 and Hewland Mk9 or LD200 and I have to fab the engine to one of these gearboxes. (thats a shame since the type-r gearbox is perfect by itself if you ask me)And for the mojo I have to make custom axles/hubs with stock gearbox.
The weight distribution of the gt-r will probably be better than the mojo's. The mojo will have a total weight somewhere around the lower half of 500Kg and the gt-r will be around 600Kg. I also think that the mojo will be more streetable than a gt-r, speedbumps wise.
I am looking for any opinions from you guys. I just want to make sure I will not start building my 2nd best option!
any option is appreciated!!

Got to say the Spire would get my vote if you want a track car, I just can't see anyone wanting a car that looks like the Sylva Mojo IMHO. It looks like Postman Pat has had a mid life crisis and converted his childrens TV post van into a comic land sports car. Sorry if it is your dream car but does anyone buy them that doesn't have a Broadmore post code.

There has got to be better looking cars out there you could build than a Mojo

Realistically, it depends on what balance you want between road and track use.

The Spire will make a better track car, but if you intend doing much more than 1000-1500 road miles per year it culd turn into a major pain in the ass. It's really only suitable for road use in fine weather (unless you are completely rabid) and you'll develop a nervous tick in the presence of speed humps & drop kerbs.

Incedentally, don't even think about a Hewland Mk9/LD200 for regular road use unless you are well and truly familiar with this sort of box and know what you are letting yourself in for.

I don't see any need for custom hubs with the Mojo; just get suitable driveshafts made up.

Ok than give me some hints! a fury is too small (6feet4 with a top on isnt going to work) a 5exi is too expencive. and sevens? we are all used too the looks of a seven and some even think it's pretty but in holland there are almost no sevens and most people say that a mojo is just as ugly a seven when i show pictures...
To me its more about fun than looks but if anybody has got another idea than please let me know.

Did you guess the gt-r will be a better track car by looks or do you know this?
I don't drive a lot but I have got 5 speed hump chalenge before I can get out of my town. And if I look at the nosecone from the gt-r I think this will be a problem...
I don't know anything about the hewland gearbox...so I don't think I have to find some information bout it thensmile (rubbish?)But I think that it will be hard to find a gearbox that (semi)fits...

Ok still looking for more opinions or options!
thanks!

I like the looks of a phoenix and a stylus but I don't think that either will fit since the fury was way too small. And I thought that they stopped producing both of them? The stylus recently?

I think i read somewhere that Caged(the rollbar people)have taken over production of the Phoenix and the Stylus is only temporarily ceased, as for size of the Stylus there is a chap who is 6'3" and big (not fat) and he gets on alright with his.

I have driven both cars; admittedly not the Sylva on track and not the Spire in its current form/manufacturer (and with a a bike engine rather than a car engine`), but they are as you would expect from their looks... the Sylva is very much a road car and the Spire/MK very much a track refugee.

Both are very good cars, but they were designed for different purposes.

You need to use one, not read about it!!

Again; they are designed for a specific purpose and that purpose is racing. Even Hewland's own web site will tell you that its gearboxes are not suitable for road use.

They are a dog engagement gearbox (no synchromesh!!) with straight cut gears. They offer a very fast gearchange at track speeds, but are increadibly noisy and have a very clonky gearchange at road speeds. If you miss a gear, or don't select a gear firmly and positively enough, they will grate and grind and generally make you look like a learner driver. When you get it right, they have a very slick, quick gearchange, but they require more concentration and skill than most people used to synchromesh gearboxes are willing to offer for road use.

I think that you will find that there are a number of Caterham owners in Holland, because a good few come to that Lotus 7 Club owners stand at the Stoneleigh kit car show. I have to say that the Caterham 7 would be a much nicer car than the Mojo IMHO.

I would Have a look through the classified section on Piston heads. But I would Suggest

I was hoping that the mojo2 would be a track-car like the striker, I guess it's not than.
I know what a dog box is I just didn't know the name hewland... Thanks!

I wouldn't worry, if you fit a motorsport rollbar it will give you an extra 2-3" headroom then get a roof made to fit, i will ask him for you though or you can register on the forum and ask yourself as i'm sure you have other questions.
