Narrow Body Westfields
Discussion
I am in the position to buy a narrow body Westfield but have just read that Westfield are no longer going to provide full support for narrow bodied cars (the factory jig has been scrapped - sincere apologies if this information is incorrect, obtained from the WSCC forum).
Should I hold fire as this is likely to affect values and I risk my new purchase losing money overnight? I had found a lovely example which I am still really keen on but as I do trackdays factory parts and support was a big plus point.

I spoke with Julian Turner from Westfield and he assured me and some others there that althought the jigs had been thrown out unless the chassis was completly shagged they would still be able to fix them. The body moulds are still in use and they have no plans to dispose of them.
As for the value, your propose purchase is already worth less than the wide body variants and there is no reason to suspect that the moves Westfield have made will further errode the value.
They had only one chassis to make last year for a Narrow body so I wouldn't worry unduly.

How wide are the narrow/wide body Westfield's compared with the standard/SV bodied Caterham's? I'm guessing the SV is still a fair amount wider, seeing as it's often derided compared with the standard Cat, yet with the Westfield the wider body is obviously much more popular?
Cheers, Greg.

The Westfield is approximatly three inches longer and wider in the cockpit area. For the Caterham they are similarly wider IIRC but the derision is sometimes driven by those who would put the heritage and purity of the shape over being able to actually get in them comfortably.Cheers, Greg.
