Anyone on here?

I saw a rather serious looking red Fury on the M25 (J27 sort of area) yesterday morning and then on the drive home I saw exactly the same car again.

It's a while since I've seen one on the road, forgotten what a fantastic looking car they are.

'twas me Mr. Drawmer! Spying on me?!

It's actually an R1 Phoenix, like a Fury but prettier, faster, ect. (!)

There would have been a green Fury though within a few hundred yards, and an Elise. We were all on our way to a day blatting round North Weald airbase. There was me thought I was being inconspicuous.

I did get a bit worried in the M25 traffic though, when for 20 minutes I was following a VOSA van with "Traffic Enforcement" and "front and rear video cameras in operation" on it. You see, the day before I had fitted some rather naughty Black number plates..... But as I eventually passed him the VOSA driver wound down the window and gave me a big thumbs up! Here hoping I do not get a fine in the post.......

Hello - Phoneix, of course, was getting it confused with the LeMans bonnet version of the Fury. Great looking car. I did notice another interesting car when you were on the way back, but only out of the corner of my eye.

Was it one of the carlimits days? I live close-ish to North Weald and I've been meaning to do one for ages. One of the guys on the TVR forum had to cancel his slot at the last minute and I nearly went last week, but unfortunately I couldn't get out of work at such short notice.

Hi Chris. Yep, it was one of the Carlimits days, but we do it through Lotus-on-track. Same guys though. Cannot reccomend it highly enough. Basically you spend the morning finding the limits of the car on a high-speed left hand bend, from a slip road directly onto the main runway. You do different excercises including lifting off everything at turn-in, to standing on the brakes to induce understeer, then oversteer at turn in. And attenpting the corner using just 1 finger on the steering wheel! Sometimes you just end up on full opposite lock round the corner at 90mph Top-Gear style. Totally safe to do it there, mind. Then in the afternoon they set up 2 or 3 different "sprint" type tracks with cones on the runway. Then at your hearts content you can try to beat your previous times (every run is timed for you). Lots of oversteer, understeer, 4-wheel drifts and spins!

Yesterday was dry(ish) but very cold and windy. Absolutuely no grip out there, stone cold tyres and huge fun. To get an idea of how slippy it was, nobody got under 1 minute (sometimes 58's are the norm) on the faster one, despite beig full of Exiges, Elise racers, R400 Caterhams ect. I did a 1.01 in the Phoenix, but 1.05.5 in my mates standard Eunos MX5! Massive fun, so everyone can have fun in various cars despite their power outputs.
