I am sure a Westfield forum will answer your questions best, quickest and most accurately. As a rough guide, if it has over 150bhp it will hit 60 in under 5 seconds, as per most kitcars.

Just remember, in a light car like a Westfield just as important as power, is weight distribution. A monster V8 or iron-blocked Pinto or Red Top Vauxhall upfront is very nice, but will shift the weight bias forward. Meaning possibly an understeer bias. Not really an issue if it is just a road car you want, but a regular track car would show up this trait. A lighter engine like a K-series or bike engine will give better weight distribution, but they have their downsides too........ Sticking my neck out here, if I had a westfield and did not want a bike engine in it (cannot at the moment think why not!) I would like a standard VVC K-series , all aluminium, 160bhp stock and about £1,000 to buy. The one I had in my GTM Libra made 172bhp and i never managed to blow it up or overheat it. However, i think VERY few Westfields have a K in them. So an alloy Zetec(?) or Duratec would probobly be a safe bet, albeit an expensive option.

Vauxhall engined westies are very popular and better for road use than bec imo, your best bet is to get yourself along to some local(wscc) area meets

I did a track day in my 4.6lv8 westfield and didn't really find this although I'm not disputing that something lighter might turn in better but just that 'better' in this case would be relative to 'very good indeed'. It easily out cornered elises.
