Hello, i`m from Romania and i intend to buy a 7 replica, i don`t now yet what type.
I`ve been asking at my local Regitration authorities and those idiots dont know if i can register a Kit car in Romania. They want to know what is printed in the registration document in UK. (V5 i think). So, can you tell me please how is described the car in the V5? Is there a mention about "handmade" or "homemade" or something like this. And i supposed is diferrent between Q-plate registered cars, age related and so on.
Another thing, if i buy the chassis from the manufacturer they assign to the chassis a serial number?
Thank you.
Hope my english don`t make you close the post.

You don’t say if you intend to buy something already built or want to build it yourself.
If you build it yourself you could buy all the parts new from a manufacturer who would then give you a ‘Certificate of newness’ which you could give the your authority.

I think it more likely you will buy a built and UK registered car. In which case it will most likely just say ‘Westfield’ or ‘Caterham’ as the Make in the V5. Sometimes it will be worded ‘Westfield Kitcar’ but this just seems to be the choice of the man it the registration department.

If the car has a Q plate or age related the description may still be the same as above.

The chassis will have a number. Sometimes the manufacturer will get a number from the registration authority and it will be a 17 character VIN number. Others will just make up their own number but it has to be at least 8 characters long.

in germany the date of 1st registration is the most important thing...the older the better.

and it must be written the kitcar-manufacturer name (like westfield, caterham, sylva...) under "make" in the v5.

if it runs for example under "ford escort" body type "2 seater convertible" its impossible to get it regitrated.

in france totally different: they go by "make", "date of 1st reg" (this must be 25 years or older) AND the "chassis no."

if its a 17digit one, the warning lamps go on in france. even saying 1978 as date of 1st reg. its impossible to registrate than, as the 17digit VIN came up in 1981 and indicates that the car is a KIT and not re-bodied chassis....strange laws in france.

each country has its own laws..so you must ak your authorities.
