Hi all,

As per usual we are holding our end of February bash at Llandow race track in south Wales.

Date this year is Saturday 28th Feb with action kicking off at 10am.

There will be factory demo cars on hand for those wanting a free of charge ride around the circuit and quite a few customer owned Murtaya in attendance who I am sure will be happy to take interested parties out for a trip.

Our new lightweight specification track day Murtaya will be making its public debut on the day and we will also have the factory prepared Britcar endurance racing car on hand along with a high specification Murtaya rally car.

This should make for a cracking day out with examples of all Murtaya, road, track and rally on show, free rides for anyone who is up for it, and customer cars on show.

Hope we might see some of you there.

Neil.

It is South Wales at the end of February, I am sure that Hilary and the team at Llandow will have wonderful weather for us to play in!

Actually in all seriousness we have not had a wet day there yet despite holding about 6 events there at all different times of year. Cold - yes, windy - yes, cloudy - yes. Soaked - not yet.

Although clearly by writing that it will now chuck it down all day! Perfect for demonstrating the benefits of the car........

Neil,

I am sorely tepmpted to come just for a day out and to see some cracking machinery and possibly go for a ride.

Unfortunately i think if i did go out for a ride I would be filing for divorce when i got home and told the wife Id ordered onebiggrin

Neil, can you stick me down for two? Sounds like a good excuse for a road trip down to Wales, but as requested make sure you bring the Cornish climate with you.

As an update to this thread we will now also be having team race driver James Harrison on hand giving passenger rides in the Britcar race machine. Places in with James are strictly limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis to people who register with us prior to the day. To do this please contact Neil Gould at Adrenaline on 01637 889351 or neilg@adrenalinemotorsport.co.uk

We have already had a good response about the day so please register quickly to ensure that there is a seat booked for you on the day.

Many thanks,

Neil.

PS Chris - you are in the schedule plus the additional place requested
Andy, come along for a play - you know it makes sense (the playing part that is - not the divorce!).

Quick update all,

Lots of interest and quite a few people now booked in.

Looks like there will be 10 Murtaya there plus some customer Impreza's, a Rage Buggy (150 Fireblade), Pilbeam MP89 with awesome shortstroke V6, and we do still have some places left alongside James Harrison in the Britcar race Murtaya.

Don't forget to get booked in - you are of course welcome to arrive on the day BUT will not be guaranteed track time if you have not pre-registered with us.

Many thanks,

Neil.

Hi everyone,

A quick update on our trackday as it is now just over a week away.

Date is Saturday 28th Feb, start time 10am, finish 4pm, location Llandow Circuit in South Wales.

We have many Murtaya in attendance, a RAGE buggy, customer Impreza (one with 575bhp!), TVR, and more on track.

Passenger rides in the cars are completely free of charge and there will the entire AMS team on hand to answer questions and talk cars.

We have many people pre-booked to attend, but there are still plenty of places available and we will look after everyone who comes along, pre-booked or not.

Really looking forward to seeing you all there for what is shaping up to be a superb day.

Neil.

Start praying for dry tarmac...

Interesting to hear the Rage Buggies are making an appearance are they going to be on the track too, or is there a nice muddy field somewhere? smile

Hi Chris,
Rage buggy is a customers toy not official factory demo car (we are remapped Gavin's Octavia VRS for him!).
It will be on the track in tarmac specification and should be very quick with 150bhp and just 350kgs to drag around - plenty sideways as well if I know Gavin! (another good old fashioned Mark 2 Escort rally man just like myself!).
Look forward to seeing you and the TVR on the day.
Neil.

Silly question but will you be doing a Hard top for it... I would love to build one but Live in Canada, and it's like that snow road most winter days....and I'm bored of drifting my Chevy Truck....2.5 tons is harder to catch when it's sideways...

PS I'm serious about the Hard top ?? needs to be warm inside. Do you use the Factory heater under the dash ??

Cheers

Clive

Hi Neil,

Spoke to my passenger last night and he's quite eagre to check if there's a space for him in the Britcar! I know I've got a '+1' down, can I just confirm he's pencilled in for a ride in the racer? smile

Was out in a Caterham Superlight yesterday. God I wish I could bring that down rather than the TVR - still wouldn't be able to keep up, but less chance of embarassment I reckon!

they do do a hardtop option removable or fixed.
Heater fitted also.

Hope that helps

Hey Clive, if you're referring to the Murtaya, they in fact do a hard top (I know Neil would eventually get back to your question, but no doubt he's getting ready for this weekend). It looks like:

You can also get it with roof scoops if you want (there's more pictures on www.murtaya.com of the roof scoops, but it's currently under construction).

You can get a heater (there's even one in the demo car) and even A/C if you want. There's a review that might be helpful to you that includes some mention of the hard top (again, I would post the link to www.murtaya.com, but here is the text):

Hiya Mike,

Eddie here again and I hope all is well your side of the pond!

Unfortunately my visit to AMS wasn’t to be as they had a testing that had to take priority.

However, they were staying relatively close to where I live so they asked if I could meet them after the testing.

To cut a long story short I have driven the Murtaya for the first time and I must say I’m impressed.

The grip that the car has is inspiring and we were taking corners at speeds that would have seen me the wrong side of the hedge in my Megablade!!

Bearing in mind that this test drive was in the pouring rain I really got to see what the car has to offer in really wet conditions.

I’m actually quite glad that it was raining because I can now look forward to driving it in the dry and really finding the car’s potential!

I think though after my drive that my personal limitations are going to be reached well before the Murtaya’s are!

The Hard Top was in place when I drove the car and that was also a bonus because you get to see how it will fair against the elements.

To be honest the Hard Top did a pretty good job of making you feel that you were in a good solid coupe especially compared to other kit cars I have been in.

There was misting on the windscreen if the windows weren’t open a bit but then the trade plate was sitting on the dash which wouldn’t help and both me and passenger (Dan) were soaked too!

As for getting in and out of the car with the Hard Top on there is definitely a skill to master here!!!

The first entry to the driver’s seat saw me hitting the left indicator with my left leg and my right let was stranded about a meter above the car!!!!!!

Luckily Dan, who obviously is experienced in the skill, showed me the correct technique and after that I was fine.

In fact by the time we had stopped a couple of times ie for fuel and then for a toilet stop (well I was excited!!!) I was getting in and out pretty easily.

This includes me being over 6ft and suffering from flexibility issues following a motorbike crash.

All in all I would say that the car was easier to get into and out of than a VX220 if that helps you at all.

Personally I will be going for the soft top option so that it can be packed in the boot if needed.

I will definitely be joining you in the Murtaya Owner’s Club as soon as I decide to build or not to build but after driving the car I would like the option that will get me driving it as soon as possible.

All the best and I continue to watch your site with interest.

Eddie

I think I'm right in saying they sold one to Canada. Carbon fibre bodied with about a zillion horsepower?

Not sure about the horsepower specs, but you are correct: they sent a carbon fibre kit to a customer in Canada. Though I don't think that AMS has a Canadian distributor yet, if they got one kit in, it hopefully shouldn't be too big an issue to send another one; you'd have to talk with Neil for more specifics...
