OK sending the forms to request my SVA date today by recorded delivery

Have asked for 20th april and hoping to get a date as near to that as poss.

I know its probably unlikely but would love a 1st time pass as it keeps me on track to get the car on the road for 20th June which is my dads birthday and I promised id take him out in Tango, otherwise its going to be a very short trip just to the end of the drive and reverse back into the garage.

cant go on the road with him in the car unless its legal cos hes a very law abiding citizen and a magistrate to boot.

hi andy,

do you have any info from SVA if the car fails and cant be booked in until after 29th April wether the car then falls under BIVA regulations on re test?

As i understand things the retest will be done using the SVA regulations as this is what the original test was done under.

If they try to do the retest under BIVA I would argue it as that would be like moving the goalposts for extra time

From what I remember of the draft IVA regs I read, (so its open to being wrong you need to check) if you fail SVA you then have 6 months max for a retest under the SVA, after that you move onto the BIVA.

You must have your SVA application with VOSA by 28th Feb (4 days from now) and you must have with it all the required documents or they will reject it and you will miss the cut-off. If you have an application in and have been asked for additional info you must get that to them by 28th or they will refund your money and you will have to apply for IVA.

When you present for test it must be in a testable condition so you can't just submit what you've got and sort it for the retest within 6 months. If it's not testable (running) they will refuse test and you are back to IVA.

This info from the Feb 2009 VOSA newsletter.

I could be wrong, but doesn't the VOSA test facility on Raynesway in Derby do SVA stuff?

Understood - and thinking about it, that comment rings true with a couple of friends who have been tested there (albeit a very long time ago now...)

OK good news.

Managed to speak to birmingham today and got pencilled in for 23rd April to start at 10 am to get around childcare issues.

Spoke to notts to get them to transfer my paperwork just waiting for the phonecall to confirm everything.

What the examiner said was they were probably going to have to start doing tests on saturday to get them all in before the 29th deadline as they cant go beyond because of the legislative change.

OK 44 days to test date and a long list of things to do. was in the garage til 9 pm last night doing stuff and am feeling Kn***ered today
