Has anyone built one? looks like their website has not been updated for some time so I wonder if they are still in business?

One of their cars was on display at the Autosport show in Jan so I am guessing they are still in business.

unless anything has changed very recently (which i doubt) they are very much in business..

very tidy cars, and unbelievably well priced for what they are.

if you are genuinely interested ANndy at AB performance has one 80% built that was being built with the best of kit for the RGB championship, but i think the guy that he was building it for has had a change of plan - probably linked to teh downturn.

if you need his contact details - email me

I bumped into Paul Nightingale of Spire Sports Cars just last week - he was testing a newly built GT-R racer at Snetterton. You need to remember that most kit car companies are small operations, and building cars takes priority over updating websites.

Especially if they are busy. Only when things are quiet do small firms start worrying about websites.

They do seem to be pheonomenally good value - is there a catch? Much cheaper than the XTR2/Radical brigade.

there isn;t a catch.. they seem very tidy cars - at realistic prices... i'm not sure what the westfield one cost - but i guess were a premium due to brand if nothing else... and were normally along with busa dry sump system which in itself costs quite a bit..

for a track/road registerable mid engined sports kit type car i don;t think you could beat it...

A radical is a different product in my opinion though - totally track focussed, and optimsed geometry etc etc to suit, and altogether designed with one thing in mind...

Spire Sports Cars is very much alive and kicking although the website may not have been up dated recently.

There is a lively and active Owners Club www.spireoc.co.uk

Well I must say it does seem very good value for what it is, it is probably the most cost effective way of getting on track with a mid engined bike powered car for no a lot of money. I think in the not too distant future I will be looking to build something along these lines I think this is what I will probably have a look at. One thing I don't like about it is that great big camels hump of a rear clip, as far as I can make out it only servers as an air intake, I would re design the rear clip to run a lot lower and have a coupe of snorkels to each side of the cockpit, would look much nicer.

PPC Magazine have a six page feature on a Spire GT-R in this months April issue.

An engine conversion from Audi 80 and transaxle to Kawasaki ZX14 on the original demonstrator now privately owned is tested by Northampton Motorsport for weight distribution, suspension set up, rolling road, and then circuit tested at Mallory Park.
