Hi all,

I'm a bit new to all this so forgive me if I'm being a bit thick BUT..

looking at a Beck 550 Spyder kit from new zealand.

The shipping etc are fine but i wondered what I would have to do to get registered in uk, sva etc?

Thanks,

Craig

Are you importing the kit or a built car?

Kit should be the same as any other - build car, SVA (well IVA now), faff with DVLA in some random and unpredictable way based loosely on which local office you use, get registration, drive smile Of course you have to consider that the kit you're buying might not have been designed with IVA regs in mind so you'll need to keep a close eye on the IVA manual and make (possibly serious and structural type) changes so that it complies.

Importing a built car will either be dead easy if it's over 10 years old or practically impossible if it's newer. Over 10 - get MOT, send forms to DVLA and get reg back. Under 10 and you need to pass the full IVA test, which involves model reports and all sorts.

Where in NZ is it?

If you have the Rego plate number I can check whether it's gone through the LVVTA system down here.

So what is the cost of shipping a Brazilian car from New Zealand to the UK? Wouldn't a UK produced car be less hassle?

That is a Trade-plate used by motor vehicle dealers to put on any un-registered car so it can be temporarily driven on the road. Generally only used on brand new cars, recently imported ones that haven't been sold yet or ones that have been de-registered for some reason such as a major (multi-year) referbishment . . . or a major accident.

I wonder if it has ever had another rego number ?¿? confused

I'm in Auckland btw so Wellington is a looooong way from me . . . and full of politicians hehe

Hi are these the cars owned by Ken Dobson?

Importing cars into Europe can be very difficult dependent on country. often you need to have the motors and gearbox axles etc removed. For in stance in the US you need to have all interior gauges etc removed as wel las all the running gear. Germany no RHD cars of a unless they are an older vehicle etc etc.

Shipping will be around 2K pounds then you will have port costs at destination as well as any Customs and VAT payable.

Hope it helps

Cheers Michel
